Introduction - Brian
Hi everyone. My name is Brian, I'm 19 from Tacoma, WA. I have a high school diploma and some college (enough to get my promoted before BCT). First I'd like to thank all of you for the job you're doing and the job you have done, it's always appreciated.
A little more about myself. Tomorrow I will be talking with a recruiter. In a perfect world, I would love for my contract to be 11x/ABN/OPT40, but in June I suffered a broken fibula from a motorcycle accident. Physically, I'm now fine. I can run, jump, do whatever I please. However, I'm afraid the ARMY will not see it the same way. From the fracture, I have a 6in metal plate and a few screws on my fibula. Seeing at this may be a problem, I most likely am going to get it removed as it serves no purpose anymore (it was only used as an interal split/brace to begin with, but it's easier to leave it in then take it out). But I will talk to my recruiter tomorrow, and we will see what happens.
Even if I can't get into Airborne and an Option 40, I will still the ARMY, but i WILL fight for it.
I find it odd, that every person I tell that I'm joining the ARMY, they either think it's stupid or, lol, tell me to join the Air Force. It takes a certain person to be able to join the ARMY and to fight for your country, and it's something i can and WILL do.
I didn't intend to write a book, but this is me.
Thank you.

Welcome.
I would suggest YOU NOT SIGN ANYTHING (emphasis added)
until you do a little research here first.
You're recruiters' not going anywhere and neither is the Army.
Slow down, arm yourself with good information and then, and only then, make an informed decision.
Good luck.

Thank you, Ranger Centermass. I agree, I won't be signing anything for a while. I've been researching constantly; which branch is best for me, then which MOS, etc. and I've read page after page of threads on here, and on other forums and informational sites as well. I'm just going to talk tomorrow, and see what they have to say. I'm just praying that the fracture won't DQ me, as this is what I really want to do.centermass wrote:Welcome.

Thanks for the response, and thank you as well Ranger Zonk :D
He might get a pass if he brings lasagna? Your not DQ'd, just need your documentation to be squared away (Medical records) I would recommend you talk your doctor who conducted the operation and see what he thinks about what you intend to do. Do not...I repeat Do not let a Recruiter tell you you don't need it or say it was something else. Get the Documentation squared away with your personal doctor's recommendation that you have healed and good to go and the MEPS doctor will most likely clear you. (the tend to approve Med waivers if another doctor recommends it first..kinda CYA) You have difficulty getting Airborne depending on severity of injury and how well it healed. Your doctor will assist you in making the best decision, not a recruiter. The recruiter will have to work a little harder in getting the med docs squared away but if he's squared away it shouldn't be an issue.RTO wrote:welcome Odiedog, you are welcome here.
