There's no better bird than the C130 in all of her configurations. IMHO

It had the possibility to come out of the gate swinging but Big AF in their infinite (lack of) wisdom decided that the J model didn't need a 105mm cannon. Of course once the bean counters realized that their "smart" munitions were too expensive to shoot often the AF determined that the 105 had to go back in. All the aircraft that the grunts love and the enemy hate the AF wants to get rid of because they aren't fast or shiny enough. That's what you get when you have a service that's run like a corporation by a bunch of jet pilots.
