I carried the Gen 3 in Iraq and Afghanistan, but when I went to a shooting course recently, I witnessed the slide come off of more than a few weapons when attempting to fire. I didn't have it happen to me personally and I really didn't get a good look at what might have caused the malfunctions, but I would guess the the issue is with the slide lock spring. There have also been complaints of the stock recoil spring being to heavy and not allowing a full cycle of the weapon.

Gun Safety Tip #6. When unholstering your weapon it's customary to say "Excuse me while I whip this out "

if you want an IWB, get a Crossbreed supertuck with a combat cutout option.

I live in AZ the law for no permit was enacted just last fall. I kind of liked it better when everyone just open carried every where.

TC204 wrote:How can anyone trust their life to a pistol where the slide can come off without warning? I'd rather carry a 1911 with a 10rnd mag. At least I know the slide is locked in with a barrel bushing.
I have carried Glocks on duty on the streets, on convoys and details in Iraq and as my daily carry for years having put many thousands of rounds thru them and never even had a malfunction. Now the 1911 on the other hand is well known for being the most temperamental handgun on the planet. So I am not sure on your connotation here.

Understand not busting your chops here, I was initially trained on the 1911 by the "Best!" on a gun that was custom built by a group of guys who knew exactly WTF they were doing. For years I would have sworn that only a sissified girlie man would EVER carry a "plastic gun". BUT times change and I am a true believer in Glocks. I would still carry a 1911, especially that sweet ass one SIG has, but for the money, maintenance and reliability its GLOCK.

They are nice! I have been using a Bladetech IWB for about a year now and have no complaints and it was mucho cheaper.

My wife recently gave her 642 to my son who just returned from Afghanistan. She then usurped my G23.

I've shot the 642 quite a bit. It's a nice little gun.
