C 1/75 Old scroll company sign

Post by Headoutdaplane »

I won the company sign with the old scrolls in a raffle, when I ets'd I donated the sign to the C co rec room. Are there any active duty Hardrocks on that could tell me if the sign is still around? if so my signature as well as Steve Weaver's is on the back. I would love a picture.

You're getting no luv on here bro. Why not ask RangerJuarena to go to C. Co. on Saturday and ask about your sign. Maybe he could get some pix if it's still up.

Was the Shakespeare quote still on the Orderly Room entrance window when you were in Hardrock?

Uhh.. Is this sign made out of plywood? It's a 1/75 old scroll? Painted black, with red trim and white letters?

Cuz, when I PCS'ed in '93, I acquired said sign and it hangs in my garage today.

Now, there are no signatures, but the back used to depict Thunderbolt / Rock DZ.

It's gonna be interesting to take a look a around this weekend and see just what the heck is still
around after 17 years. If anyone is wondering about the old 1/75 RIP sign, it's hanging in the Madison County Sheriffs Office gym in Madison, FL. Care of one former C Co 1/75 Ranger "Mark Joost" (Now SO Captain).

No it was a sheet metal sign, the plywood one was in the arms room, or maybe the commo room when I was there.

I went down two years ago to HAAF. I promised my daughter I'd take her to see her bf graduate from boot camp at Parris Island, but I'll be damned if I was going to stay overnight anywhere near there! Since I have my retired ID card and I hadn't seen the monument, I got a room on HAAF.

It was embarrassing! After 28 years away, I found Sabre Hall and the moldy old Ranger Barracks, but other than that I got lost like three times! The BN was deployed but I got to talk to a couple of young studs at the burn barrel. One was from Charlie Company and he treated me like I was a brother. It was good to be back.

Oh and I got O-6 quarters for $37/night because the place was empty!

Probably the same plywood one. This one hung in the Supply room, only it was in FRONT of the counter we were not supposed to go behind. So, I had some Hooah's go in and run inteference, looking for chem lites or 550 cord while I high tailed it out the door with it.

Frank, Slade is correct, you will be shocked, I mean the entire 1276 compound is gone. Hell, it was very bitter sweet, I went to the intersection of where I used to live on post housing for 4 years and my quarters had been bulldozed as well. The tree my kids used to hang in and fall out of was gone as well.

I will say, the post looks much better and is much more modern, but all those memories, there is no place to put them.

It was the sign that was outside and over the door leading into the C co hq, where we had Company formations. We were told to give up $5 for the raffle. I remember I was in formation thinking "what the hell would someone do with it?" when they called my name. Guys who had jumped into Grenada were offering me up to a $100 for it. I hung it in my room until I got out. By then they had put in a rec room on the third floor (had a hot dog machine and everything!) so me and Wheeze signed it and I gave it to back to the company. I thought it would be a good reminder of folks who came after about the times before regiment, when things were easy, the wimmen were loose, the weather always perfect and no chiggers.
