Re: Introduction - James

Welcome, brother! Not only did I go to Basic at Bliss (2nd Plt, C Co 1/56 ADA. Hooah!..), but hopefully this year I can get there for a weekend. I've been wanting to go back and have dinner at the steakhouse that was just outside the fence on Alabama street. (yes, it is still there after 25 years..)...

Re: Former 75th Army Ranger Peter E.Kassig Captured by ISIS

The scum that holds our brother captive has to know who he is, and his background by now. It is all over the internet. That being the case, I fear his life is doomed, if he hasn't been executed by now. Given the flair for the dramatic these swine love, there is no way they would pass up such a propa...

WOW! You made Jim skip his normal "first impression" spiel, and that aint easy to do! For your recruiter to say 11x is the "best" for SF should tell you he doesn't know jack-shit about it. You can be a 92W (water treatment specialist) and still get picked up as 18B, provided you ...

Where there is a will, there is a way. Not suggesting by any means that you do something unscrupulous, but I know someone who's vision was so bad he was totally DQ'd from airborne duty, and he found a way to make it. He was smart enough to figure out that the Pentagon has been using the same eye cha...

1) I don't know how much or little your family background will play into your security clearance, but you will probably be OK. I think that if you can read & write Arabic and/or Farsi that would be a welcome asset. 2) People have a misconceived notion that just because you are in the Ranger Regi...

Welcome. Like I told one of the other young-uns, having two years worth of college credit will get you starting as a spec-4. You will also be able to make rank quicker, when the time comes for that. Not sure why you want to get a 2 year RN then go into the Ranger Regt. If it is nursing you want to p...

Oh, one more thing. A lot of the men who leave as medics go on to become paramedics, nurses, PAs or MDs. Howzzat for a well paying civilian job?

Re: Introduction: Joe

Welcome to the site, Joe. Based on my screen-name, I don't think I have to tell you which MOS I favor. They all have advantages and disadvantages. Whichever you do, it behooves you to be in top shape before you go, or as close to it as you can. (What would I consider top shape? 52 pu, 62 su, 6 pull ...

Ahh.. The walls have eyes and ears! Lesson number one for our potential Ranger Medic.. (and any new Ranger type..)

You never know who is watching, and who knows whom. The web is very tangled, indeed!..

Re: Role of E-4's in the Regiment.

Rangers, so I'm a DEP who leaves in August, and I have a four year degree so as you know ill be going in as an E4. I would like to know the roles I will play as a new E4. What kind of responsibilities will I have once I am in. I was told by someone who got out in 2005 that your pretty much treated ...

A Moment of Clarity

A little something for the new Rangers, and all the younger Soldiers and Sailors, to contemplate.. It was kinda surreal when it first dawned on me it. It just seems like yesterday when I was a young private in the Guard. Half of the medics in the Troop (and I would say at least half of the soldiers....

Re: Intro-John

I was mentored by a great medic on here... Nah, He's prolly just another poser.. John, there has been a great deal of info come down the pipeline from Grimm, and others recently. If you want to be a medic in the Regiment, this is the place to start. Preparation is the the key; physically, me...

Re: VA related Phone call

1st off, never give anyone your private info or DOB over the phone. Right away ask what the Regional VA Office phone # is. Here in NYC it is 1(800) (# three digits) & 1000 (can't remember shit). Sounds to me like someone's taking advantage of all the bad VA press lately to conduct another money...

Gentlemen, if this does not deserve the title "Badass of the Week", then nothing does. http://www.stripes.com/recognition-sought-for-soldier-s-heroic-acts-1.156727 And, quite frankly, I can think of few acts that are more deserving of the MOH, than this.. Yes it does. There is a petition ...
