Re: Opt. 40 update
Hi Ranger goon175, I called my recruiter to see about re-negotiating for a 11x opt.40, but they were gone. I told him where I heard about them and he is interested in contacting you if you don't mind. Thank you. What Mos do you have right now? If you have 11X already you do not have to reno your co...

Re: 11x Option 40
Before you go and even attempt to snatch up an Option 40, please learn what Rangers are and what they do. You are obviously cluess about the 75th Ranger Regiment, and as a whole appear to lack any awareness of what you are pursuing. There are many young men who are learning everything they can and ...

Re: 11x Option 40
Go back to your recruiter and cancel that 13F. There are option 40 11X on the system shipping on 30 Oct 2012. I work at the Houston Meps and that is what we have been seeing as of late. We had about 12 that enlisted for option 40 11X shipping on 9 October.

No 11X slots
I work at the Houston Meps we sent 3 kids home today without enlisting because they only wanted 11X with option 40. I spoke to the ROC NCOIC and we simply have no 11X training right now. We have been enlisting kids out until May 2012 to ship in to the infantry. We have been told the FY 2012 11x trai...

Guidance From Recruiting Command ref FY 2012 mos 11X opening
Here is part of a message we just got from HQ USAREC about 11X, combat arms, and Option 4/40 for FY 12: All are doing a great job assisting the command in meeting the combat arms MOS precision requirements for FY12. We are rapidly meeting our 11X MOS precision requirements for FY12 and further 11x p...

I have searched to board and I haven't been able to find an answer to a question I have. My son will Graduate OSUT on 5 Aug then head to ABN and then RASP, thoughout basic he has had problems with his glasses fogging up. The BCGs sort of suck. Is there a different type of glasses you would recommend...

Re: Retake airborne physical?
You will have to schedule your processing with your recruiter. I would talk to the station commander and let him know you want to re take the airborne physical. The station commander if he is any good should be able to work with the meps ncoic and ensure they get with the medical section and set you...

Re: Retake airborne physical?
Yes you should be able to go down and re test. I work at the houston meps and I asked my NCOIC and he said sure you should be able to retest. Of course the recruiter will say just sign up. I would say wait 30 days since you took the physical before you go back to meps because after 30 days you will ...

Re: Graduated
Congrats and best of luck to you in the future. How much if any hold over time did you have from OSUT and RASP? My son graduates OSUT 5 Aug and he was told he will have about a 4 week hold over till ABN school. He will go to RASP after that.

Re: Intro Daniel
Daniel, I take it by your screen name you might be from Texas? Are you going to be at one of the MEPS centers in Texas? I did see a few option 40's on the system today and they are starting to show up for 2012 high school seniors. I work at the Houston Meps. Congrats on your decision to join the Arm...

Re: Intro Zach
Zach, welcome to the site and congrats on decision to join the Army and serve your country. I work at a meps in Texas as a guidance counselor. Right now I haven't seen any option 40's on the request system. So when you are at the meps make sure you get airborne qualified during the physical, and ask...

Re: Intro Phil
Phil, Welcome and I look forward to reading more of your posts. I am very new to this site and wish I had known about it as my son prepared to leave for training. One thing he did that really motivated him and put him in the right frame of mind was reading the book Lone Survivor by Marcus Luttrell. ...

Re: Option 40 Contract question
goon175, man thanks for the response. It answered a lot of my questions. You know what is crazy is that my son who is about week 12 of 11X OSUT told there are privates in his company that #1 didn't know they had a option 40 contract and had no idea what it means. #2 some privates with option 40 can ...

Re: Intro
I just heard from my son's OSUT company commander and he verified that Keith was able to meet with the recruiters from the regiment and was able to sign the volunteer paper work for RASP. I am so happy and proud of him. He has dedicated so much time since November to prepare for this he will never q...
