Re: Orienteering Question

Differenceces in size/scale of maps shouldn't be too much of a problem. Topo maps are topo maps, the main difference is in the amount of detail. The larger issue if you are doing sport orienteering is the map symbols. The IOF symbols are nothing like those on a USGS/MGRS topo map. It just means you ...

Re: Thoughts on preparing for RASP

Good stuff here. Just this little bit of info would have made things a whole lot easier for old Doc back in the spring of '95.

Read and heed, gentlemen. That's all there is to it.

Re: Introduction: Brian

Welcome, brother. Being a career FF myself, I can tell you the similarities of the two jobs are uncanny. Just prep yourself well, keep the right mindset, and you will do fine no matter what MOS you choose.

PM inbound.

Re: This cracked me up

Yeah.... 95-ish, A/3/75 was set up to work with TM 4. The Haitians were getting uppity, so we were going to grab the Port Au Prince airport, they would helocast offshore, move to the embassy, and NEO the staff to us and cross load out. They had reservations whether we'd be good enough to work with ...

Re: Funeral Honor, uh, No Honor Guard

I am disgusted.. As am I, brother.. I make absolutely no apologies for their actions. Having done winter funerals here in New England, I know how unpleasant they are. I also know how much it means to the family seeing that someone takes the time to show up in their class A's and treat their loved o...

Re: Funeral Honor, uh, No Honor Guard

While disgusting....stuff like this has been happening for a very long time. Facebook is how these got caught. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I317 using Tapatalk Concur. It used to be that you hoped the person developing your photos didn't make a few copies of your unflattering pics. Now people put them ...

Re: IED Shockwaves and Internal Hidden Injuries

Unfortunately, the crux of the problem is that there is no scientific way to study the effects of this. (the way doctors are trained to look for evidence using a double-blind study model) Let alone the legal implications of such a study, the ethical and moral quagmire is bottomless, even though such...

Re: Releasing/Reclassing to Active Duty for the Regiment

As far as who "gets to serve" with infantry? The Regiment is no different than the makeup of your current unit.

As far as strength numbers?..That is OPSEC (no shit, it really is..)

Re: Introduction- Josh

Also, for what it's worth, the fastest I'd ever seen or heard of anyone going to Ranger school was three months in Battalion. A friend who I went through Airborne and RIP with went straight through so he had his tab as a PFC (now that RASP is 8 weeks, I don't think that its possible any more..) He w...

Re: Introduction- Josh

Ranger Cayo is spot on, you could jump from pvt to Ranger Spec4 but you would be missing a hell of a lot of information. Sent from my iPod touch using Tapatalk Roger that Ranger MadBSTRD. I will be entering as an E4, does that make a difference at all? I'll answer this one.. Only for pay does it ma...

Re: Introduction

If you haven't had the opportunity, find yourself an M-1 Garand rifle, just so you can pick it up.. feel it's weight and heft. Put the bayonet on it and swing it around. If you ran out of ammo you could just crush the skull of your enemy with a butt-stroke to the head. Now imagine carrying that, plu...

Re: Eligibility Question

Credit actually counts more than some BS petty larceny. If you have bad credit, it is assumed you are in debt. If you are in debt, you are vulnerable to taking bribes. That simple. As has been said, you won't know until the 1SG at RASP calls you to the carpet and says, "about that clearance thi...

Congrats, brother! Benning is not as bad for permanent party as most think. Columbus is a LOT bigger and nicer, now!Working under the flag pole ain't such a bad gig. Actually, it is a testament to your abilities and skills. They don't just let anyone work at the schoolhouse so someone holds you in h...
