Re: Introduction-John

Finally a decent intro (as long as it's true). A tall, skinny guy that can do pushups, the current weak guys here should take note. Work on the run and especially the pullups as Ranger Jim said. And good name choice! 100% AND THEN SOME.

Re: Army Ranger earns longest applause at State of the Union

And then there is this PIECE OF SHIT. Why is there a track record at NBC/MSNBC of this type of crap? Why do they have to keep firing people/saying sorry/etc. for repeated mistakes on public record that never should have happened in the first place? http://www.breitbart.com/Big-Journalism/2014/01/29/...

Re: Army Ranger earns longest applause at State of the Union

SFC Remsburg is now being used as a political prop. For this particular disgusting picture, it's for the Dems (No Republicans, that wasn't a challenge.)

Re: HELP APPRECIATED!

I say keep in touch with him and find out when he should show up for RASP. Then let cadre know his name, and have them give him extra attention and let him earn that option 40. We'll see if he "APPRECIATES" all the "HELP" on trying to become a Ranger...unless he doesn't want to h...

Re: Movie Reviews

Lone Survivor: I estimate about 90% the same as the book so for a real combat movie that's excellent. Brutal (ex. falling down the cliffs). Very well done, they did a great job to honor all the fallen, due at least in part to Marcus.

Re: Introduction-VinDiesel

I wonder if I have what it takes to be a Ft. Drum Commando? Does the Commando tab go above or below the Mountain tab? CLTW! (What the fuck?!?) All this reminds me of an article from my first deployment about Op Anaconda, 2002. A pudgy soldier was asked about his Mountain patch and told the reporter,...

Re: Prep for RASP

I don't know much about those 2 programs, but you are on the right track. Any PT is better than none, especially with some that have never done any. And it depends on the 6 ft beanpole runner that can't do pushups, the 5 ft stocky guy that can't run, and the rucker with no abs. (with all around weak...

Re: HELP APPRECIATED!

Your choices are not similar other than they are in the military. Being in the 75th Ranger Regiment is A WAY OF LIFE. I can't speak to your other choices, I wasn't SF or EOD. But you should pause before going to MEPS when you don't have a clear plan in mind. President, firefighter, or a fast food gr...

Re: Is RASP even possible for me?

The reason for doing +1 everytime you do pushups is TO HONOR THE AIRBORNE RANGER IN THE SKY. This is for a Ranger Fallen Comrade. Your platoon/squad/etc. might even have extra pushups for Fallen Comrades on top of the Airborne Ranger in the Sky (ex. "One for the Airborne Ranger in the Sky, 3 fo...

Re: Is RASP even possible for me?

Start with this, Lesson of the day: Mike11C11B, not Mike11c11b, just like ex. Ranger, not *anger (notice I cannot bear to see Ranger without a capital "R"). Knock out 50+1 for YOUR LACK OF ATTENTION TO DETAIL. Once done, explain in this thread why you do "+1" when you always do p...

Re: Is RASP even possible for me?

Well "smartass", you got me circling. Here it is-Don't waste an option 40. You sound lazy. Maybe delay 6 months to a year to get in shape. College huh? No free gym/track there? How about a ROTC program? That would get your lazy/weak ass to do SOME PT. Force yourself, the military forces yo...

Re: New 60mm Mortar Sight for Handheld

By the way, does anyone know what the highest charge the small baseplate (M8) can take? We always wondered if the ammo bearer didn't make it to the firing point or lost his baseplate on a jump just how much charge the small one could fill in for during conventional mode (besides charge 0 & 1 han...

Re: New 60mm Mortar Sight for Handheld

I was trying to decrease the L/R error in handheld, since range add/drop was easier to fix by a decent gunner, but L/R was always tricky. The red dot sight is a good idea for daytime. The back bubble was needed for cant of the barrel. You could have the laser on target, but the barrel angled to one ...

New 60mm Mortar Sight for Handheld

I came up with something similar on a deployment in early 2002. It was mounted on the upper saddle with a range scale for charge 0 & 1 with a PEQ-2 or similar laser and a back bubble, very close to a M203 quad sight. I still have the "blueprints" somewhere. I hope it's durable. Shoulda...
