Re: K W Patrol Cap
Never understood how those things protected your hearing. I'd pop 2 with some water before every op and I swear they didn't do a thing. Tasted like shit too.

Thank you for your service and thank you for raising a son who aspires to the same. They both speak highly of you. Welcome.

Lunch is going to use his 'cleaver' to have some BurnedRemains for 'supper.'

Re: New LT Intro
Welcome. How you scored that gig is a wonder. Most of the P-finder units don't have PL slots, just an XO and CO. Those units run small teams that are NCO led. Things may have changed in recent years, but that's they way it was. You might end up getting those orders amended, or you may end up as a 2L...

Re: Taking plate out of arm
Ranger PocketKings, thank you. When you say that the recruiter is giving me the easy answer, are you saying that I can get Option40 in my contract even though I'll need a waiver? I'm also still deciding between 68w and 11b. Will either one be easier to get Option40 with? Or are they both the same? ...

Re: Taking plate out of arm
I have a plate in my arm for the same reason (stability for healing, could've been removed if I wanted). I had to get waivers for my scholorship, Airborne and RS and it was a bit touch and go (even 10 years ago). These things aren't that uncommon, and I suspect that metal that is no longer needed fo...

Re: Surviving the Cut
As a former member of both Alcholics Anonymous, aka. the Jumping Junkies and the Puking Buzzards, aka. Screaming Chickens I take no offense to anyone calling us names. It's no worse than the other disparaging unit names like the Angry Vaginas (25th ID), Broken TV sets (3rd ID), Lost Lieutenants (4th...

Re: Army uses Google Maps to detail MOH awardee's last hours
Wow. Thanks for sharing. I agree that it can seem a little unworthy to reduce an action to a few pictures and images, but that does more justice than an award citation.

Re: IOBC Journal
You should be OK from the OPSEC POV. Nothing there is all that high speed, but it never hurts to be prudent. PERSEC you need to avoid. You never know who from your class might end up doing high speed stuff (or have done high speed stuff). I think it's a good idea. I watched a lot of 2LTs fall into t...

Re: IOBC Journal
We had a Croat guy who was the exact opposite. This was '99, so very few of our instructors had combat time. Instructor asks the class 'who here thinks they can set up a good ambush?' Croat 'Eddie' raises his hand. Instructor (laughing), 'OK hero, what makes you think that?' Eddie goes on to explain...
