Re: SITREP - Andrew

X2, Do what you're told to do at 100% of your capacity; don't do what you're told not to do; do the right thing even when nobody else will know, and take responsibility for doing what you need to do to succeed. And avoid shitbags, booze in excess, and any local girls you might meet who express an in...

1) Listen and take heed to what the BTDT's tell you, 2) Do what you're told to do; don't do what you're told not to do 3) Make sound, informed decisions, 4) Do the right thing even when you're the only one who will know, 5) Take responsibility for ensuring your own success, 6) Avoid everyone who isn...

Re: SF Soldiers carry the load for the Forestry Service

Cool collaboration, but I wanna go educated the individual who wrote this in the worst way. It's the FOREST Service, and the Forest Service doesn't have park rangers. A "ranger" in the Forest Service is the title of a district supervisor. The National Park Service has "park rangers&qu...

Maybe you didn't notice the effort I made in choosing "predecessors" to avoid suggesting any nuance of age, Sir. I tried...

Re: This Special Forces legend was saved by his beard

When he was assigned to the JFK CENTER and School, I was assigned to the 82d ABN. We ate lunch at the JFK lunch room. It was interesting hearing his perspective. Too cool- "interesting" would seem like an understatement to me...but that said, I acknowledge that I'm just a young buck who t...

Re: This Special Forces legend was saved by his beard

x2

Would be an excellent book for our newts to add to their reading list if they have the window of opportunity to read it. Will also provide some background so they don't feel ignorant should they ever find themselves at Camp Rowe. "Five Years to Freedom" for anyone interested.

Re: PT while injured

I'll do push-ups for my lack of situational awareness. The map reading class was in a private forum for those who are officially being mentored.

Re: PT while injured

Which reminds me: I don't see you signed up for Ranger IntelToad's map reading class, Rippo: why have you not chosen to take advantage of this solid gold opportunity?

Re: PT while injured

Interesting enough, my injury also occurred my senior year of high school. Could be that Ranger Xray recovered quicker and than I because he was smarter and better advised than I: he saw a doctor and had an actual therapy plan in place.

Re: PT while injured

Rest, stretch, moist heat, anti-inflammatories. And did I mention rest? Best non-medic advice I can offer. Way, way back I had a hip-flexor injury that hurt like a mo-fo and rendered me useless. I suspect there isn't much you can do to hasten the recovery besides laying off for a couple weeks, to in...

Re: Introduction

Ranger Disinfertention, Thank you for the advice. I will continue to walk. I've noticed a big improvement in ankle strength and flexibility so far. A Marine buddy of mine suggested to put bed sheets under the sandbag I use in my pack to get the weight up higher. That seems to help tremendously with...

Re: Introduction

SITREP 20170401 ...Ranger Jim, I know you've already told LionsDen, but I would like to point out how good of a job he's been doing as the DEP in charge. We've got a pretty big group of mentees to control and he's constantly keeping the pressure on us to meet deadlines for updates. The mentee group...

Re: 75th Rangers - 75th Anniversary Coin

Very impressive! Would have liked to see the DUI highlighted, but figured maybe there were some permissions governing the use that couldn't be granted. But yes, excellent quality.
