Re: Greetings from an Old Grunt

Welcome back to the patrol base brother. The collective memory here is long, even when people come and go. Like one big dysfunctional family or something.

Re: Possible felony charges against Petraeus

Petraeus has a love of the spotlight. His Patrol Cap had a designated seat in his vehicle (truth) Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk From my interactions with super Dave, that would not surprise me in the slightest. There was a rumor floating around during the Iraq invasion that someone left ammo o...

Re: Battle of LZ X-Ray

I stand corrected on the author's name. It was Larry Gwin. I had to check my bookshelf to verify.

Re: Possible felony charges against Petraeus

Sorry Jim, I did not see your post until today. Basically, the gist of the op-ed was that the Generals and Admirals that signed on to this group, the likes of which included Petraeus, Mcchrystal, Olsen, and a few others I don't recall off the top of my head, should be listened to because they served...

Re: Battle of LZ X-Ray

Way back in high school, I read the book Baptism, I think the author was Anthony Gwinn. It was about LZ Xray and it's sister battle LZ Albany.
Even way back then, I knew when I got older that the people that fought in those battles were the ones I wanted to be like.

Re: Possible felony charges against Petraeus

I have not read anything else. But, I haven't been actively looking either. I think I saw something on the Havoc journal, an op-ed possibly.

Re: Women in Combat Arms Roles

Congrats on getting a good grade on the presentation. On to your question about segregated units- the standard that I talked about earlier doesn't change because of the gender involved. Combat does not magically get easier because you have a hairy bean bag or because you ride a menstrual cycle. Is t...

Re: Possible felony charges against Petraeus

I will be bumping this back up to heap more shit on the lineage and parentage of Super Dave. He's apparently gone full dipshit and is now apart of a group to is promoting common sense gun laws. Him and several other former prominent Generals. What part of shall not be infringed is hard for these peo...

Re: Women in Combat Arms Roles

One name was mentioned in Ranger Jim's article, Lt Ashley White. Another name not mentioned was Captain Jennifer Moreno. Both were CST members.

Two additional females not mentioned that you might find interesting are Sgt Leigh Ann Hester and Pfc Monica Brown.

Will1701-
How goes your research project? What were you able to come up with from the terms I gave you?

Don't be afraid to come back around and critique your work or your grade.

Re: Tomb of the Unknown Soldier

Sadly, there are more than a few videos of the guards having to remind people of where they are and what the proper amount of respect is that should be shown.

Re: Tomb of the Unknown Soldier

Surprisingly, I watched the trailer link to see if I saw anyone I knew, and sure enough the first guy they show I worked with for a few years. He went on to win Best Ranger a few years ago. And wasn't one of the Tomb Guard videos floating around this site a few years ago our very own (even though he...

This should link to Gunny Mooch's Urgent Fury Facebook page. It's a post about the CSM, looks like he is doing better now.

Re: Women in Combat Arms Roles

Just for your awareness Will1701, a few terms you can research and see what the government originally intended with the GI Jane initiatives and how their performances fared. Lioness teams, Female engagement teams (FETs), and Cultural support teams (CSTs). All variations on a common theme. There are ...

Re: Tomb of the Unknown Soldier

I just saw an article about an upcoming documentary about the Tomb guards. It was directed by a former Sentinel and he was given unprecedented access to the training and life behind the scenes since he was one previously.
