Re: SITREP- Elgecko

Rangers, I am only two days away from graduation, which will be slightly over a year from when I first enlisted. I'd like to thank everyone here for their assistance, I don't think I could have arrived at RASP any better prepared than I did because of you all. Last week we did demo/breaching and it ...

Re: SITREP- Elgecko

Rangers, Apkaz and I are currently halfway through Week 5 and things are going great. Aside from getting the flu and shin splints, I couldn't be happier with the way RASP has gone. We have done a ruckmarch every week, increasing from the 7 mile to Cole Range, then 8, 10, and the 12 mile on Friday. I...

Re: SITREP- Elgecko

Rangers, Back from Cole Range! I didn't post a sitrep after Week 1 so I'll start from the beginning: Getting moved from pre-RASP to RASP was a great feeling as it meant I was finally moving into the best part of my training. We jumped right into it, too, which was very refreshing. We started with co...

Re: SITREP- Elgecko

Rangers, I have graduated from Airborne and now waiting to begin pre-RASP on Tuesday. The word we are hearing is that it will be at least 3 weeks before another class begins so that will give us lots of time to prepare. I feel like I've been waiting so long for this opportunity that I don't mind wai...

Re: SITREP- Elgecko

Rangers, Just wrapped up Tower Week and all is well. As was expected we didn't do anything with the 250 ft towers. We lost a few people on the SLT because they couldn't figure out how to keep their feet and knees together; all told I think we've lost around 80 people so far (pt test failures, run dr...

Re: SITREP- Elgecko

Rangers, Deps, and future Soldiers, It's been a while since I had the opportunity to update my status and I'm very glad to say I'm still on track. AIT was a cakewalk and I graduated with honors. There's not much to say about cook AIT other than the obvious: you learn the basics of field equipment an...

Re: SITREP- Elgecko

Rangers, First of all, I have to thank Ranger ZoneIV for looking into the possibility of me being mentored while at Fort Lee. Unfortunately, due to the post's intense focus on eliminating fraternization it won't be possible. Nonetheless, I am pushing on and feel great about the direction of my PT. I...

Re: SITREP- Elgecko

Good evening Rangers. As of yet I haven't been able to start AIT and won't for at least another week. I've been bumped from two class rosters to make way for National Guardsmen, who have priority over active personnel (the first time I was actually in formation ready to step to class when they pulle...

Re: Airborne hold

Ranger baseplate, of course you are right and your comments have put my perspective back in place. Although I have never wavered from my goal of being a Ranger, I need to be more patient and adaptive. I have waited 10 years for this opportunity so another few months won't mean much. Roger Ranger Jim...

Airborne hold

Hello Rangers, Soldiers, and everyone else. I an waiting to begin AIT and I'm hearing some disturbing things about starting BAT. One Soldier I just spoke to said she is on holdover until December for her spot. My research has confirmed that there is typically a 2-3 week hold but I've heard from seve...

Re: SITREP- Elgecko

Ranger Jim and Ranger Steadfast, I can assure you motivation is one thing I am not lacking. I carry the Ranger handbook with me at all times and love reading it. I am doing everything in my power to be prepared for RASP.

Re: SITREP- Elgecko

Rangers, thanks to your help I showed up to BCT much better prepared than my counterparts. I don't just mean physically, either. I was really hoping our platoon would be cut from 60 to around 25 Soldiers because that's as many as I could honestly say I trusted with my life should I find myself in a ...

Re: SITREP- Elgecko

Thank you Rangers for your support. I fly out to Fort Jackson tomorrow and since I'm just sitting here at the hotel I thought I'd repeat something that has already been mentioned before. It is very easy to see who is serious about their job and who isn't. I have not even seen a Drill Sergeant yet so...

SITREP- Elgecko

Before I leave for BCT in the next couple days, I would like to thank all the Rangers who have provided so much information and guidance on this site, it has helped me get my head in the right place as I embark on my journey to becoming a Ranger. I will post regular sitreps along the way and I will ...
