Re: 1942 US Rangers Combat School - 1 of 9 - Just Declassifi
Many thanks for finding and posting these vids; they are interesting from an historic perspective and as a reminder of what America was willing to do in war. Here are the words of Lt. Gen. Lesley James McNair that are shown at the end of the last video: "Our soldiers must have the fighting spir...

Re: Who here carries a pistol for personal protection?
I tend to keep one close by, but not necessarily on my person. I do always attempt to maintain situational awareness. I have been a reserve deputy and reserve police officer. Between my military and law enforcement training, I feel comfortable with owning a firearm. I agree with Ranger Flesh Thorn....

Re: Who here carries a pistol for personal protection?
The term "Go fuck yourself" comes to mind, among other things... Tell me about it. The shitty thing is that if I do carry and defend myself then on top of defending my actions in court, I'll have a weapons charge on me from the army. What a turd burglar. It really sucks when the Chain-of-...

Re: Who here carries a pistol for personal protection?
In a 'Non-Permissive Environment (NPE), I carry if no metal detectors (within USA). What a General who is not 'in contact' with bad guys has to say means nothing while you are fighting for your life (and the General is not there at the time). General's who make such 'rulings' seem to have lost the e...

Re: Who here carries a pistol for personal protection?
Once upon a time, when I worked for an oil company (first job out of the service) I was working a 24 hr mini-convenience store in New Orleans as part of my training. Working late sometimes, I kept on old pre-war Luger in the desk drawer. One night there was a huge incident involving a car fire, ano...

Ha ha ha, that is the funniest thing I have read so far today. Thanks for sharing it.rgrokelley wrote:Guns are bad. Thank goodness I don't have any at all, nor carry one, ever.
Your chances of being shot by a gun that you carry have been proven to be really, really high.

Re: Who here carries a pistol for personal protection?
I carry whenever I remember to, which is pretty much always. I've drawn a loaded handgun on someone three times, and every time the other dude decided to find an easier target. People always get this really offended look when you stick a pistol in their face - like it's your fault they're trying to...

Re: Who here carries a pistol for personal protection?
The first time that I 'produced' a pistol for close personal protection (not in uniform) was when I as a 21 year old Ranger and on a first date with a hot-looking young lady (human, this time). While walking along Abercorn Street one evening and nearby a 'Buy Me Drinkee' bar on the way to River Stre...

Who here carries a pistol for personal protection?
Hello Rangers and other interested parties. As you know, I am 'new' on this site and thank you very much for the many warm welcomes. I have been carrying a pistol for personal protection since I was 21 years old (am 52 now), even when living in the barracks at HAAF. At 21, I got my first CCW (in Geo...

Re: 2010 RHOF Induction
That is good news: your attendance at the RHOF Induction Ceremony. I would love to see one of these.
I worked with CSM(R) Michael Kelso and had wanted to see him at this event.
Best wishes,
Karl

Re: Question regarding politics
In addition to the fine and correct comments above, you fight because that is your job, the job you volunteered to do and to support your 'brothers-in-arms' (the other Rangers around you). For me, I hated the stupid things that Pres. Jimmy Carter did/ smart things he did not do. We still feel the da...

Many thanks for the warm welcome. Good that you intend to leave NorCal; it is becoming a crazy place.
I grew-up in So Cal (shot stuff, rode MX bikes) and cannot live there now; it seems the idiots run the government.
Best wishes,
