Re: Option 40 Update as of 4 OCT 2013

Jim I haven't heard anything about the mission getting reduced. No one in recruiting services was furloughed so it is business as usual. I do wonder what will happen if they actually implement the SMA's tattoo policy. That policy could have a huge impact on enlistments. Micheal glad I was able to he...

Re: Sitrep: Abacus38

For MOS 35P you will need to score a 107 or higher on the DLAB. The enlistment is a minimum of 5 years. As you have already learned option 40 will not come with MOS 35P. I have seen a few 35M, 25B, 25C, and I think 35N with option 40. I look into it tomorrow morning.

Re: Option 40 Update as of 10 September

Abacus, I'll check tomorrow morning. It is very rare to see a 35 series come with an option 40. In cases like this you have to ask yourself which is more important. Becoming an elite member of one of the premier units in the Army or just another MI guy? Don't get me wrong it is awesome you are consi...

Re: Ranger medic

As far as Special Forces goes you can volunteer for SFAS once you are a E4 and have 24 months of service.

Re: Ranger medic

68C requires at least a 5 year enlistment. You'll be in school for about 1 year. You will not be able to change your MOS until you are in your reenlistment window which I believe will open when you have about 1 year left on your enlistment. Ranger Sleepy Doc gave you some great advise. My only sugge...

Working since January with a "law" problem/issue. What is the issue? I ask so I can let you know if you're going to qualify for a option 40 contract.

Re: Somebody help me DQ'd??

Braxton, I was just informed by HQ USAREC that we can no longer request medical exceptions for Airborne. Either you are qualified or not. It sucks because allergies shouldn't stop someone from going to airborne school. You'll have to earn your slot. Good Luck and never ever quit.

Re: Somebody help me DQ'd??

Braxton, did you get an airborne stamp at meps? If you did you still need your recruiter to send an exception for you to get an option 40 due having a medical waiver. The meps counselor is either uninformed or lazy because you have have your reservation updated at anytime before you leave. You need ...

Re: Somebody help me DQ'd??

Braxton, don't rush into it. I'm not a Ranger but clearly a option 40 and getting into the 75th ranger Regiment is totally different than just going to Ranger school. The 75th is part of the special operations command; they train and deploy totally different than conventional forces. If you haven't ...

Sequester and Training

I was wondering if you have seen a reduction in training or supplies for our active duty soldiers as a result of the sequester. I know it hit me as a DOD employee I'm subject to a 1 day a week furlough for 11 weeks. The furlough has caused us to cram 40 hours of work in to 32. The reduced hours has ...
