Re: Memories of Ranger School
This brought back some memories. Mine are seeing a plantation type house in mountains through the trees, talking to guys pulling security on the side of the road that were see through holograms, that last final walk into Camp Rudder and getting that final go, and the worst hike (the no ruck mission)...

One is usually a big enough deal. 24 is a little above average.

Re: This cracked me up
Reminds me of Lippy in charge of land nav...or anything else for that matter! Like getting lost on leader's recon at JRTC? What a jackass. I was in school, but heard all about it. I took the brunt of him for 2 1/2 years. I'm sure he looked great on paper, but he sucked in the field/little knowledge...

Army issued running shoes?
Think about boots: Deployment to Afghanistan, do you want Army issued boots or your choice of hiking boot?

Funeral Honor, uh, No Honor Guard
Photos speak for themselves. Wisconsin National Guard looking into soldiers unprofessional actions with jacking up flags because it's so cold and hoodlums posing with caskets. No better link for now, but pics are futher down on Wisconsin National Guard's facebook page. https://m.facebook.com/Wiscons...

Bode Miller asked over and over about dead brother
NBC aired (not live) a reporter asking Bode Miller about his feelings and his brother after tying for bronze in skiing. She kept asking at least 4 times until he broke down. All the youtube clips just show him breaking down, not being badgered about his brother. Shame on NBC and that reporter. http:...

Re: SFC Petry to Retire
SFC Petry, what's the most memorable moment in your career? Well, I was going through RIP, and this mortarman beat me during combatives. But I knew he was real Ranger material then, so I felt good coming in second. I can still feel that choke to this day. In fact, it was the same arm I tried to bloc...

Re: IED Shockwaves and Internal Hidden Injuries
I always had a headache after shooting 10-15 120mm mortar rounds. In comparison, 3rd ID would have blast devices (BADs, our 81mm had them) on the muzzles of their 120's due to being mounted on a tracked vehicle. Don't tell me it didn't affect me somehow. I hope they tested blast effects like this.

Celebrate America? Not allowed. Cinco de Mayo? Required
Students in a Colorado high school asked to celebrate America for a day during a spirit week. They were denied because it wasn't PC enough. They asked for a My Country day instead. They were denied again. However, the school does require all to participate in Cinco de Mayo activities...in America. h...
