Re: Warrior Dash

I know this is off topic but why is it that the SEAL teams have gotten to be such a big part of Hollywood when the other SOF units remain unspoke of? Because the Seals actively seek publicity. ARSOF prefers to be "quiet professionals." Note that in most cases the Seals fly to the target o...

Re: What's a good water purifier?

I have used the MSR MIOX and MiniWorks filters backcountry for several years and have had good results with them. I'll second the MSR MiniWorks. It's probably the best backcountry-size hand-pump filter out there. Easy to pump, high flow, and you can get a variety of different grade filter modules f...

Re: Troop Withdrawl in Iraq

No SOFA, no troops (at least when it comes to us being a guest force rather than an expeditionary force).

However, I am guessing Barry's minions were ordered not to work very hard to come to an agreement with the government of Iraq.

Re: Bin Laden Killers May Have Used Night Vision Contact Len

I could see maybe contrast-enhancement, tinted contact lenses (think "ski-goggle yellow"), but not any sort of "NODS". Neither optical physics nor device physics work out for something like that. Even if it -could- work, it would have a side effect of making the eyes glow, making...

If the U.S. Government apologized for killing your relative, scumbag though he be, wouldn't you be offended? Of course, maybe that was the whole point!

Re: Infantryman vs Medic

If you go medic, you will have to make a more personal effort at BCT to improve your running than you would at infantry BCT: You might be stuck in a co-ed BCT unit with truck drivers, clerks, supply troops, MI, etc. Make damn sure you go to the next faster run group than your initial PT test indicat...

Re: 37 Injured in March at Fort Bragg, 1 Critically

A few different possibilities are floating in my mind: 1. If the temperatures were only in the 70's, did they get caught by the relatively mild weather (compared to say 90 deg+ with 95%+ r.h.) and not drink enough water in the first place? 2. Was there a virus going around and the troops tried to pu...

Re: Congress revisits carry-permit reciprocity

I'm not sure about concealed-carry reciprocity forced by the Federal government, but there are definitely some things that need badly fixing that should be legal across all states: 1. The right to carry and possess arms within your own residence/on your own property, whether open or concealed. 2. Th...

Re: 101st Airbone Fights Taliban in the Middle of a POT Farm

Step 1. Don pro-masks Step 2. Light pot field ablaze Step 3. Walk up to the Taliban offer them MRE brownies, then flex cuff them Step 4. Compensate the "farmer" with tobacco seed. edit: a "damn you autocorrect" fix... Really, "MRE" wasn't in the autocorrect dictionary? ...

Thank you, Im sorry if I sounded like a 12 year old snooping around just to make a cool airsoft load out. I did have a paper to wright ... Wrighting a paper, huh? I've never heard of a boat type called a paper . I'd bet you'd find more boat building enthusiasts on a naval veterans' website. :twiste...

You'll love this! - The history of the middle finger I never knew this before, and now that I know it, I feel compelled to send it on to my more intelligent friends in the hope that they, too, will feel edified. Isn't history more fun when you know something about it? Before the Battle of Agincourt...

I remember a report, maybe about a year ago, the Russians caught some Somali pirates, and then released them... onto a dingy about 500 miles from the nearest coastline.

Re: Annoyed with Verizon

From my understanding, 4G doesn't actually exist. They supposedly have the technology but not enough power to push it from the towers, or something to do with the phones not having the power to push 4G back out to the towers. Can't recall exactly how it was explained to me. I don't really understan...
