RS....Summer or Winter??

I heard they don't make you wear your ruck anymore in the summer, they just truck them around for you...

I went through in the winter...some days it was cold as shit, but we didn't have to spend much time in the water in Florida.

I just saw this post Weidert, but I'm glad to hear everything is going well at the 82nd. I went through OSUT, Airborne hold, Airborne, and RIP hold with Weidart, and was pretty pissed off when I heard he failed the PT test. Weidart was definitely one the harder workers and if I ever needed help with...

Thanks for all the support. Ardent Lady, Thanks for the cookies. We all got to enjoy those after a long day during the first week. There were also some good quotes in the cookie bags. SFC Hit it, I'm still a collegepuke so I guess I'll stick with my name for now, unless anyone can think of anything ...

There's a guy in my class that got booted for multiple integrity violations. I ran into him and he told me he told his parents that he got kicked out for having gatorade is his locker. From my experience, it seemed like the cadre gave people more than enough of a chance to make it through if they wa...

Just Graduated Class 04-05

Rangers, I just completed the most recent RIP class that graduated last Friday. I'm excited to be staying here with 3rd Battalion. Thanks for all of the advice and encouragement along the way. I definitely benefitted from having this site as a resource. I know that the hard part is yet to come, but ...

Pilgrim, I am in RIP Hold right now. Although I am not exactly sure about how soon the next class will start, it seems like they are moving people through quickly, so hopefully you will not have to be in hold for too long. I was also kept in hold at Sand Hill for two weeks after graduation, and at t...

Another 5 jump chump (RANGER)

I just graduated with Weidert from Delta Company on the 3rd. Jumping out of an airplane was defintely the most exciting thing I've ever done. As soon as the jumpmaster yells out "30 seconds", my adrenaline was rushing until I got off of the Drop Zone. I'm in the same boat as Weidert with R...

Checking in with good news (RANGER)

Fortunately I was able to secure a slot to airborne/RIP. They gave out about 12 airborne/RIP slots to my company. It seems to have been pretty much based on PT scores for those who volunteered. Even though I wasn't that satisfied with my second PT test, it seems to have been enough to get a slot. Al...

Checking in from OSUT (RANGER)

We just finished week 7 of training down here. Like Weidart said in his letter, we are in the same Company, C 2/54. We just did hand grenades and M203's this past week. Like he said, the PT is definitely not very intense, I try to do as much extra as I can in my free time at night. Although, I think...

One week left

I just wanted to thank all of the Rangers and veterans on this site who have provided me with so much info and advice. There is a vast amount of knowledge on this site and I feel that I am much better prepared for what lies ahead because of this forum. I haven't posted much in a while because I have...

Ranger Spartan, Today is a day to honor those who have given their lives to preserve our country. It is also a day to think about how you can contribute to make the country better and to forget selfish desires that you might have. Today makes me feel more guilty that I am not yet alongside my fellow...

Lotuslips, Hope you are feeling better and recover quickly. There are too many people that drive drunk where I am at school. It's a completely unnecessary thing to do and can wind up causing a lot of damage; to property and human life. I'm glad you came out of this without too much damage to yoursel...

I would suggest #5 most closely matches your situation. If you're a College Puke, you should be used to multiple choice and picking the one which best fits. Do Pushups! Ranger Spartan, I missed that match. Knockin' em out right now. But aside from a girl being imcompetent in the outdoors, I think t...

Ranger Spartan, I've had a similar experience, but not one that really fits into the options you listed. I had a girlfriend who professed to be an expert in the outdoors, and also had a lot of nice new gear. But when we got out to where we were camping/hiking, there was pretty steady rain with no en...
