Re: C/E Platoon

All of what has been said, while dated in some aspects(ya'll fuckin PRC-77 using silverbacks) is still a reality. I was NOT COMMO. I was an Infantryman that due to either being liked/disliked/appearing smart, got assigned to be the RTO for my platoon, and took it to heart especially with a team lead...

Re: Rangers Loadout/ Kit

You have to be careful, 2 signal mirrors and a angle head flashlight used properly can cause a breach in the time-space continuum with about the same physical effect as a MOAB

Re: Medic in the Regiment

I'll toss my 2 cents in. I was an infantryman who was re-trained in-house at 3/75 as the battalion MEDSOV medic. It also probably has changed since I was around.. but here's how it was when I was there. it depends on where you're assigned. Company medic, Basic day stateside? show up for work, do mor...

Re: Infantryman vs Medic

I'll second scar. If you like the trigger pulling portion and you hang long enough to get your shit, just 4187 to be infantry at that point.

Re: Rangers Loadout/ Kit

Thank you, Im sorry if I sounded like a 12 year old snooping around just to make a cool airsoft load out. I did have a paper to wright and one of the questions was what tool and equipment is currently used for this job (Army Ranger). I thought i would actually ask one instead of just putting random...

Re: Best Camelbak option

nah, don't worry about it till you get to wherever you end up as permanent party. You more than likely won't be able to use it in any training or temporary unit assignments.

Re: Best Camelbak option

I liked the mule for a while, when I didn't *need* an assault pack.

Then I found myself always needing one as an RTO, and went for the BFM... and didn't look back. Still use the BFM today for stuff.

I was an operator, got out of it because the dispatchers couldn't pull their heads out of their asses.

Re: GI or Malice pack or others?

I would do regular PT, because rucking honestly is just having a set and doing the goddamn job. Break yourself while on the army dime so the army has to fix it.

Re: GI or Malice pack or others?

4th on the poontang running around campus. Information percolated through non-military channels from a supposed military source, purported to be advice to someone who IS military, is suspect at best and bullshit at worst. I trust second hand information like... say, Baseplate had a guy on his mortar...
