Re: Introduction - Matthew

Initiative is important. Anyone who works for a living at any level at all can appreciate that. I don't chase people to help them but I try to be here for anyone who will meet me half way. Looks like it has been a month or so since you have done an APFT. I'd recommend you do one and see where you ar...

Re: Introduction - RiverstreetLRRP

Hey Matt, Welcome to the site, brother. Good words from you reference ETS stuff. They really are trying to improve our resources as we close in on ETS/Retirement. You can still royally screw yourself over if you don't seek stuff out but there is no excuse not to other than you don't care about yours...

Re: Introduction- Avonte

My Mother will be fine Good to know. I'm not very well read on what the military can do if she does need help and you are away. Just if the time comes and you are in training away from home bring it up early. Don't let stuff get out of control if you can prevent it. When is the last time you gave y...

Re: Introduction - Matthew

Thanks for checking in, Matthew. Trust your mother's decision to not sign anything. Both my parents were willing to sign paperwork to let me enlist and ship before 18. I wouldn't hide that information from your mother. Just to have a conversation with her so she knows you are serious about it. Not t...

Re: Introduction- Avonte

Dear Rangers, I have 31 days before I leave for Fort Benning, for some reason I previously said that I ship July 15th and I have no clue because my actual ship date is July 9th. Physically I know I have a lot of work to do. Ranger Inteltoad is 100% correct so I will just echo those comments. Many o...

Re: SITREP- Carter

Rangers, I contacted the Regimental Recruiting Team and they told me to go through my Chain of Command. I did and they offered me an 18X contract because they felt it would be a better fit for me. I gave it some time and decided to sign an 18X volunteer statement. I’ve been working on my push ups e...

Re: Introduction- Nathan

Ranger Disinfertention, I apologize for the wait. My recruiter said I can begin contract negotiations in two weeks when I become a senior. If i get my option 40, I'll sign then swear in. My latest APFT scores are: 2 mile - 14:15, 5 mile - 40:40, push-ups - 68, sit-ups - 75, and 15 pull-ups. I still...

Rangers,

Not much to update right now other than I broke the 20 minute barrier for my 2 mile time. 18:16 was my time.

Figured I should check in,
-Matthew
Great one to break. Keep following a program and you'll steadily see improvements.

Re: Intro - Mike

Hey Mike, welcome to the site. Most branches of military have programs to transfer you over and you may not have to ETS first. I'd start with an online search to see if the Navy/Army has a program to give you some quick information. If you have trouble getting some self help call a recruiter. This i...

Re: SITREP- Carter

Hello, Rangers. I graduated from the Basic portion of OSUT today, I’m with Charlie Company 2/54. I graduated at the top 10% of the company and was promoted to Private First Class. After reading through this forum thoroughly before leaving I was expecting there to be unmotivated and out of shape peo...

Re: Introduction - Matthew

Yep, that works. I wouldn't worry about the recruiting team not talking to you or keeping up... Just wait until you get closer and re-engage. You guys are a bit different as you have had the clear defined goal of joining for a fair amount of time. Don't let temporary medical things slow you down any...

Re: Introduction - Matthew

Matthew, The new ACFT does require some specific equipment. Don't worry. If the Army does swap to it, it will have a plan in place to take your from zero to passing during Basic/OSUT. That being said, basic body weight workouts like pushups, chins, core exercises, cardio, will never be out-dated. Ke...

Re: Introduction - Delcore

Bit of a delayed response here from me, I was on the road this week for work! Think we just minced words on the 5th battalion thing overall I guess. Technically it is the 5th battalion, just not in the name of the unit itself and I think you threw us off with that phrasing. All good. You found your ...

Hey Mac, welcome here.

When do you plan to speak to a recruiter or do you have an idea for your timeline to enlist?
