Re: Introduction-Mike

Mike, I am several years out of touch but if you know any of the PTs in Regiment perhaps try to reach out early and often to let them know of your interest. Half the battle with the smaller groups of jobs is getting your name in the mix. If you'd rather keep it a bit more official have you looked a...

Re: Introduction-Mike

UPDATE: I’ve been working as a BDE PT for an IBCT for about 6 months now. It’s definitely a tough gig for a new grad. It’s probably a better fit for a slightly seasoned CPT. One of the other BDEs is even about to fill their position with a MAJ. I’ve been doing my best to keep my head above water but...

Re: Introduction-Mike

I made it through the didactic portion and passed a comprehensive oral exam last month (hence the long absence) and I'm starting my internship year this week. Still a long way to go but I'm getting there. After graduation I'm hoping to land a spot as a BDE or BN PT with a line unit before applying f...

Re: Introduction-Mike

I apologize for not responding sooner. The briefing wasn't quite what I was expecting and didn't really help much. One of my classmates, however, is Ranger qualified from his time as an Infantry officer and he was able to give me some really great info.

Re: Introduction-Mike

Just found out that USASOC is going to give a briefing next week on PT opportunities throughout the command. Hopefully I'll have some answers to my many, many questions.

Re: Joining the Regiment as a support (medical) officer

I'm hanging in there, Ranger Jim. This program is the most intellectually challenging thing I've ever done. I have to admit I let the stress of it get to me and my physical fitness has suffered a little bit. My goal is to get my six back in shape by the end of the year.

Joining the Regiment as a support (medical) officer

Good evening Gentlemen, I'm currently training to become a 65B (physical therapist) and I'm very interested in joining the Regiment at some point. Unfortunately pretty much all of the I can find for officer recruiting seems to be geared towards IN and other combat arms AOCs. Considering the mission ...

Re: Looking for Physical Therapists (65Bs) assigned to the Regiment

Ranger Jim, Nothing solid, but I have some leads. One of our faculty members was one of the early Ranger PTs but he's not tabbed. We're on holiday exodus now, but I'm going to talk to him some more about it when I get back in a couple of weeks. Still trying to find a good contact with someone who ha...

Looking for Physical Therapists (65Bs) assigned to the Regiment

Rangers, I'm not sure if this is the right area to post this or not. About 20 years ago the Army started assigning Physical Therapists (65Bs) directly to Ranger BNs. My goal is to serve in one of these positions after I finish the Army's PT school. I still have long way to go and I know it's a 300m ...

Re: Introduction-Mike

Actually been quite a few developments. Went to Ft Sam on a house hunting trip and actually found a place. We're in the process of closing right now. I also signed my contract and did my oath so I'm officially back in the fold. All of this "sir" stuff is going to take some getting used to....

Re: Introduction-Mike

Ranger Jim, I report about this time next month. My orders just arrived at the end of the week so I don't have my HHG ship date yet. That'll determine the day I actually leave my current home. It's about 1700 miles so I get 5 days of travel. On another note, it looks like I'll be the oldest person i...

Re: Introduction-Mike

Finally got my orders this week so everything is pretty much official. I've been PTing my ass off and I think it's starting to pay off. I hate to admit that I really let my fitness slide during my break in service and I was in much worse shape than I initially thought. I'm slowing getting it back th...

Boots for my odd shaped duck feet

Good afternoon Rangers, I finally received my orders so it looks like I'm officially heading back into the Army. In the 2 years I was out I gave away most of my old uniforms. The ACUs and APFUs are getting replaced anyhow so buying new stuff was inevitable anyway. I'm hoping you all can give me some...

Re: Introduction-Mike

They finally let me take the physical a couple weeks back. It took more than 3 months to get approval to take the damn thing. All the non-prior service folks knocked their stuff knocked out months ago. I was actually getting a little worried that I was going to get booted from the program and replac...

Re: Introduction-Mike

UPDATE-I was accepted into DPT program earlier this week, pending physical. The physical unfortunately isn't a sure thing. I know back in the day you could keep your mouth shut at MEPS and drive on. Now that we are in the age of electronic health records some of those old injuries might come back to...
