Will do Ranger Jim and Ranger JD!
I enjoy reading the updates by your young wards and the coaching, so I'll be lurking for sure.
Thanks again.

Re: Introduction- Dad of a soon to commission IN 2LT
Rangers, just got the call from swamps and our son is go for RS graduation!
He may end up with another class or two, then will head OCONUS until he can put in a packet to try for Regiment.
Thanks for letting me ride along, and keep up the good work!

Re: Introduction- Dad of a soon to commission IN 2LT
Roger, Ranger Jim. We are a couple hours south of there and it was low 20's this am. And still snow and ice on the ground. Probably an easy 10 degrees colder up there on the ridges. We are being told that less than 5% of this class cycle (Jan starts) go straight thru, so know it will be tough and ...

Re: Introduction- Dad of 2LT (now in Ranger School)
Hello Rangers,
Thought I'd give a quick update. My son has just headed North for the pleasures of Camp Merrill and Mountain phase. Made it through RAP week and Darby... hungry, tired, and cold, but otherwise upbeat and unscathed. He's ready to push through to the end, wants to get it done and get ...

Re: Introduction
Some of other thoughts:
- vision for ROTC/USMA is a bit stricter, but did have an appeal & waiver process. But that was done through DODMERB not MEPS. So don't know what would apply for you.
- From reading the ARMY regs and similar discussions, OCS still has a +-8 dipoter max variance. Don't know ...

Typical IN 2LT pipeline
Otterfied , I can't help with anything prior to OCS branch selection, graduation & commissioning, but from there out it's fairly standard.
It would be worth seeking out the IN "Yellow Brick Road" slide which shows LT & CPT development path. This path is publicly available, and is a good resource ...

Re: Introduction
Rangers, if appropriate I might be able to give some insight on the IN officer track based on my 2LT son current experiences.

Re: Introduction- Dad of a soon to commission IN 2LT
Thanks Ranger Jim!
And an update: my son is now a brand new butter-bar. Next stop Benning pipeline: IBOLC, RS, ABN. The good news is he has several weeks to continue his train up.
Thanks again for letting me ride along.

Re: Introduction- Dad of a soon to commission IN 2LT
Thanks Ranger Disinfertention!
I think you are probably right, as a parent/family member the best you can do is be supportive and encouraging.
It does help his mom and I to learn more of their world, if nothing else so we don't have to ask for clarification on acronyms, etc. If we can provide ...

Re: Introduction- Dad of a soon to commission IN 2LT
Hello Ranger Jim,
Welcome. Where did your son go to school?
Hudson HS, sir! (More details in PM)
What have you learned about Rangers?
Probably not enough, yet. At least just enough to understand why my son and the others here aspire to be one.
It has been very interesting learning, and I'd ...

Re: Introduction- Dad of a soon to commission IN 2LT
Thanks Rangers and team,
I appreciate you letting me ride along, and keep up the great work.
It makes me proud to see these kids you are coaching. They have chosen to do a very hard thing, something many of their peers will never understand.

G'day Rangers,
Dad of a soon to commission IN 2LT here. He's headed for Benning pipeline (IBOLC/RS/ABN) then to an airborne unit on jump status.
Long time lurker, joining primarily to say thanks for your service and the help you provide to future Rangers.
