Re: ROTC and the Ranger Battalion
Thank you for the valuable information Rangers and clearing up this grey area. Once I get close to commissioning my career options will become more apparent. However, opportunity meets preparedness, so I should know these things in order to be ready when it comes my way.

Re: ROTC and the Ranger Battalion
I have no idea, but would assume they take Regular Army offices vs. Reserve Component on Active Duty officers. That might be worth looking up. Not to be confused with Reserve Component officer activated for duty. Roger Ranger KW Driver. I got a direct answer from Army.com: Sorry, the 75th Ranger Re...

Re: ROTC and the Ranger Battalion
If you commission, your chances of attaining a position within the Regiment will be minuscule, compared against your year group cohort. There's a finite number of potions available, vs. number of positions thou out the rest of the Army. Getting one is highly competitive. Career timing and current u...

Re: ROTC and the Ranger Battalion
I joined at 34 deployed at a later age than that. So no you will not sit behind a desk unless you want too. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Roger, Ranger Grim. Thank you, that's good to know. If you don't mind me asking, what was it like coming into the Rangers at age 34? I would be very interes...

ROTC and the Ranger Battalion
Hello Rangers. I posted last year stating I was going to join as enlisted, but instead finished my apprenticeship, becoming a successful Journeyman Plumber. I thought carefully about what my skillset could bring in service to the Army, and the next logical step for me would to obtain a degree that w...

Re: Introduction: Bob
Liberty Lake is about 6 hrs from where I live. My daughter and son-in-law live right there in Spokane, she is a Park Ranger at Ft Spokane on Lake Roosevelt National Recreation Area. Possibly when I make a trip over there to see her we could link up, too. If you have never rucked before I suggest yo...

Re: Introduction: Bob
Two questions; 1. How are things going with PT, Swim test, Family opinions? 2. Where in Washington do you live. We may be able to plan a link up some time, if you're interested. 1. Rangerjd, I recently had a couple minor setbacks with my training. Recently, I started feeling severe ankle pain after...

Combat swim stroke
What is the proper swim technique to learn for Ranger training? I have learned the combat swim stroke, with and without fins, and find it more difficult than the side stroke (with scissor kick). I have been practicing swimming 1000 meters, with and without fins. I have also found it is impossible to...

Be your own man. Your parents will get over it. If they don't, you will. Parents will almost always choose what is safe for their child over what is right. Only you can determine what is right. ^^THIS^^ You're in your 20's, correct? Also, unless your father was on the ground that day when Pat Tillm...

Familial Ramifications
I have had a troubling last few days. I spoke on the phone with my parents about my intentions of joining as a Ranger, and it went worse than I could have ever expected. They think I am crazy to leave a good job, and are convinced I will come back maimed. My father, who served in the military, and i...

Re: Introduction: Bob
Roger, Ranger Jim. Thank you for the clarification. I visited Sgt. Lane today at the recruitment office. I scored an 89 on my practice ASVAB, which opens up many options. He said his superiors would probably want to have a guy like me in psychological operations, though I wouldn't be forced into it....
