Re: Marines’ new alcohol policy strictest in U.S. military
I remember years ago if a soldier wanted to buy liquor on post he went to the Class Six. The Class Six was not open 24/7. Now liquor and wine are sold both in the PX and the Shoppette, and most Shoppetts are open 24/7. Even in a state like TX where the state law forbids selling alcohol past a certa...

Which Martial Art?
You might be able to do some combative training, but it is not done all the time at least when I was in. This might have changed. There was only one unit where I was stationed where we were allowed to do martial arts training during PT (Korea), but in ordered to do that we had to score a 290 or abov...

Re: AR/M4 vs. AK
I fired both, and I like the M4 (both selective fire and non) over the AK. Mainly because its light and accurate. The AK is suppose to be more dependable, but that part I don't know. I never humped with an AK just fired it at the range, but the both times I did (3/75 and JSA) there were no problems.

Re: what pistol should i buy?
I carry a SW M&P Shield .40. Fits, fires, and conceals nice. It is very comfortable when I am out running or walking, not heavy. I am looking to get a full size hand gun. A buddy of mine let me fire his Sig P220 Elite .45. The price is high, but the gun is nice.

Re: VFW
I am a member of our local VFW, but I don't go there. I was also a member with one up in NYC before I retired. They smoked me out. Most of what everyone said is right on. The VFW here in San Antonio don't allow smoking. At least that was what I was told. I am not a drinker. Here, they're like a spon...

Re: asthma waiver-option 40 contract
Easyday, Blueskiesalways is correct. It is better for you to receive your advice from someone who knows. Your recruiter will know. He would have all the information on what he can do for you. His information is current. My information was back in 2007. Tell him what you stated here, and also bring y...

Re: Marital Retreat for Service Members
This is an old post, but I think retreats are great. Especially for the soldier and their spouse. Spouses have to deal with a lot, while their love one is gone, and when that love comes back. It is nice to get away from the world, and spend time each other.
