Re: Intro - 68wHopeful

Rangers, While I've been out of state, the station commander at my recruiting station has been replaced. I am unsure of the circumstances of this change, but the result is that the new station commander, a former RASP trainee, has shot down my RENO request. I will still be attempting to amend my con...

Re: Intro - 68wHopeful

Ranger Jim,

The recruiter who was handling my RENO packet has moved on. I have recently made contact with my new recruiter and she is working to get on top of my paperwork and tell me where my application stands.

Re: Intro - 68wHopeful

Roger Ranger Steadfast. I have just pushed 25 more for my failure to properly answer your question, and one more for the Airborne Ranger in the Sky. The extra pushup was for Sgt. Jonathan Kellylee Peney, a medic with Delta Company, 1/75 who fell while maneuvering to reach a critically wounded Ranger...

Re: Intro - 68wHopeful

Roger Ranger Steadfast. 25 for my failure. Another 26 for my grandfather, a sergeant in the 187th RCT, Korea. I will remember him fondly.

Re: Intro - 68wHopeful

Rangers, Sincere apologies for my absence. I have returned home to attend a funeral, the circumstances of which threw me a bit. I have continued to PT and improve myself, but haven't been near a computer often. My recruiter has been flexible in regards to my trip out of state, and has assured me tha...

Re: Intro - 68wHopeful

Ranger Jim, I spoke with my recruiter about requesting a RENO today. He expressed concern that I may not have enough justification to request a RENO, and that the recruiting battalion "powers that be" may not approve it. I have chosen to move forward with my RENO request. I am continuing t...

Re: Intro - 68wHopeful

Ranger Jim and PerryB, thank you again for your advice, it does not go unappreciated. PerryB's explanation of the RENO process is a great weight off my shoulders. I will be pursuing a RENO thanks to PerryB's counsel and will keep the board apprised of my progress in that regard. Ranger Jim, In answe...

Re: Intro - 68wHopeful

Rangers and PerryB, I just got home from my airborne physical at MEPS. I passed my physical with flying colors, but there were no option 4s or 40s available for 68W. My career counselor has told me that my only shot at this point will be to request a RENO from my recruiter. I would like to respectfu...

Re: Intro - 68wHopeful

Rangers and PerryB, Apologies for the delay in this update, I was called out of town for work and did not have an opportunity to speak to my recruiter until yesterday. When I asked to return to MEPS for a physical, my recruiter told me that he had never heard of "updating" a contract. I in...

Re: Intro - 68wHopeful

PerryB, I cannot tell you how much your advice is appreciated. I know it comes from a great deal of experience and I do not take it for granted. I was not given an airborne physical at MEPS (my recruiter did not inform me that such a thing existed). I have left a message for my recruiter and am requ...

Re: Intro - 68wHopeful

Roger Ranger Jim, I have PMed Ranger Steadfast and requested that he change my handle. As for more of my background, I am 21 years old with some college under my belt. In regards to employment, I have spent most of my time helping to grow the family business as my parents' oldest son. They did not c...

Re: Intro - 68wHopeful

Thank you for your excellent advice, Ranger Grim666. I was not aware that a contract could be changed after signing, and intend to follow up with my recruiter. I will change my name ASAP, I should have realized the error of including an MOS I have not earned.

Re: Intro - 68wHopeful

Thank you for the welcome, Ranger Jim. In regards to more about myself and my motivations, I have considered serving for several years, but was raised and expected to assist in the growing the family business as my parents' oldest son. Theirs is a very traditionalist household. In the past three yea...

Intro - 68wHopeful

Good afternoon Rangers, My name is Hank, and I'm 21 years old. I currently work on commercials in Los Angeles. I have been waiting on a 68W option 40 contract for months, to no avail. I have signed a plain jane 68W contract and ship to Fort Jackson this October. I hope to have the opportunity to ear...
