Option 40 11X update

I know it has been way too long since I posted on here. Anyway, I am starting to see Option 40 11X available in Sept for HS Graduates. These slots will go quick. I did not see any out in October and it is doubtful USAREC will go out into October for enlistments because the command has had trouble ma...

Option 40 Update 27 FEB 2015

Checked the status for option 40s this morning. I did not see any 11X option 40s for high school seniors or grads. I did see option 40s for MOSs 88M and 25P for seniors shipping in July. For grads I see option 40 for MOSs 92 A,G,W,Y AND 88m shipping in March. Right now USAREC is close to missing the...

Option 40 Enlistment Bonus

Effective today DA has authorized enlistment bonus (new enlistments only) for certain MOSs with an option 40. Here is part of the message: RGV4-OPT 40 BONUS: Authorized for a specified MOS that is combined with OPT 40 training and identified in REQUEST. The parent MOS will determine the TOS. This bo...

Re: Introduction - Patrick

Patrick, you can have a medical waiver and still qualify for airborne training. If the meps CMO (Chief Medical Officer) will declare you qualified for airborne training you can keep the option 40. If the CMO will not declare you qualified then you're out of luck. I had a guy just last week that had ...

Re: Intro - Jon (BCMMidlength)

Jon, wow I have never seen anyone quit before they actually got started. You had over 3 months before you shipped, plus 14 weeks of OSUT, plus 2 weeks leave during Christmas, plus 3 weeks at airborne school to prepare. Your excuse is pretty much BS. I am not a Ranger but i've enlisted 100s. Never se...

Re: Intro - 68wHopeful

Hank, I've never seen a reno disapproved. Recruiters and their leaders get nervous about renos because they're afraid you won't ship if you don't get what you want. What you need to understand is once your reno is approved you can reno for an option 40 for the mos that is available or keep the 68W w...

Re: Intro - 68wHopeful

Hank, you will NOT lose your mos 68W if you go to the meps and reno. Here is a truncated version of the process: Once your reno is approved you'll be scheduled to go back to the meps and sit with the meps counselor, they can look in the request system and see if we have any option 40's on the system...

Glad to see that your meps has a clue. Keep seeking what you want and let me know if you run into any snags.

Re: Contract Questions

Breuk, one more thing I'll be honest if your GPA is really 2.6 you have a very slim chance to get selected for OCS. You'll be competing with men that have 3.8 and higher. I used to help process OCS packets in my area and I can tell you a 2.6 isn't going to cut it.

Re: Contract Questions

Breuk, FYI, I am not a Ranger. I am simply a member of this site that does work for the Recruiting Command . I post on here to answer mostly recruiting related questions. You'll gain a lot of valuable information from this website. Use it wisely and most of all pay attention to detail. Often the sma...

Re: Contract Questions

Breuk, you cannot hold a contract for an applicant. If you process OCS you cannot enlist with an option 40 until the board results come back and you were non selected. Just like you cannot apply for OCS as a civilian once you've enlisted with an option 40. You have to pick one or the other. OCS is e...
