Re: Long overdue SITREP
Houston PD Academy is a commuter academy I guess you would call it. Home in the evening and weekends. That still hardly helps though since at least half of the drills we have scheduled are a Fri, Sat, Sun drill. Which I didn't even know were a thing before I got there. Fatboy, I definitely hope to b...

Re: Long overdue SITREP
The PD seems like if I have orders for drill weekends or AT there is nothing they can really do about it. Of course, if I fail since I missed something it would be on me. It's actually my NG unit that seems to be the one making things easy on me. As soon as they found out I was starting the Academy ...

Re: Long overdue SITREP
good evening gents, Ranger Jim, I did not receive any VA compensation as far as a disability rating. I didn't even really try I mean I know I'm not broken at all. My brain says I should have fought for more but my heart just cant really accept it knowing that if anything I'm better off then I was be...

Re: Long overdue SITREP

Managed to get my wife pregnant in that time too soooo expecting our first baby girl in January. Pretty psyched about that as well. Officially got picked up for the ...

Re: Long overdue SITREP
Thanks for the info guys. Looks like I might get lucky and wrangle interviews and preliminary testing for both Houston Fire and Police Departments during my last leave here in a few weeks. I'll keep your guy's advice in mind during the process. Thanks again!

Re: Long overdue SITREP
Dang thanks for the advice guys. I hadn't considered the fire dept I'll definitely look that way. Saying the brotherhood of most LE agencies has eroded away is a big red flag for me since that was something I was hoping to take with me from the army. The wife having a job already has opened up my op...

Re: Long overdue SITREP
RangerJim, I have not earned a CIB. The only combat deployment I've been on so far was pretty slow. It's the biggest regret I have in my military career so far. I know it's out of my control but it's hard not to feel like I'm kind of a fake until I get it. It is what it is though I guess all I can d...

Re: Long overdue SITREP

Well, I figured I'd add to my thread on here since i recently graduated from Ranger School. Felt good to be done with that since it's something hanging over every Ranger pri...

Long overdue SITREP
OSUT Well, I guess I'll actually start with 30th since, we'll, that's where everyone starts. After a long journey you pull up on the bus, equal parts nervous and pumped, not sure what to expect. I'm ready to go, almost hoping for a smoking just to get rid of 12 hours of flying's worth of pent up pis...

Re: Introduction: Josh
Ranger rangertough I'm very much looking forward to changing my avatar. I just wasn't sure about the verification process and I didn't want to jump the gun and do something before I was authorized.

Re: Introduction: Josh
Thank you Ranger Steadfast. I'll write up a summary as soon as I get a chance. Three day weekend so I should be able to scrape one together soon. I really wish I would have been able to log in during my training so I could have a fresh perspective to share but the big moments are burned into my memo...

Re: Introduction: Josh
Wow, seems like I wrote these posts decades ago. I guess a SITREP is in order. I'm happy to report that my ear popping failure was no hindrance to being give the opportunity to attend Airborne and RASP. I was offered an option 40 during OSUT and gave it all I had until I ended up here in Washington ...

Re: Introduction: Josh
Ranger Jim, my degree will be from Bloomsburg University of Pennsylvania, but I did some jumping around for various reasons (money) including a few community colleges and online courses. As far as the ears go I did a great deal of searching to this forum and got great advice last year when I had my ...

Re: Introduction: Josh
Well Rangers, it has been more than a year and I thought I would post an update. I had problems during my physical last summer with my ears popping as I mentioned in another post. SInce I had one more year of school left I wasn't that concerned since I thought I would get another chance this summer....
