Re: Sitrep from Grim666
Ranger Jim, I officially graduate on Jan 30, 2014. It is a long course to start with and then I had a minor setback during the one block. It will have been almost 1 year by the time I get to graduation. No assignment yet, we get those after graduation.

Re: Sitrep from Grim666
Another update. Completed one of the last graded portions of the class and the final practical test and the ATP test. The ATP tests your knowledge on everything from day 1 of the SOCM course. It is essentially a all encompassing final exam. Everything from pediatrics, to pregnancy, to malaria, and e...

Re: Preferred age group
boston0550 if you want to send a PM that would be fine. I believe that both Ranger Cams and Ranger goon175 are correct. The "new" assessment program and the PreRASP program weed out a lot of individuals. In addition there are quite a number that were in class with me that had at least an A...

Re: Preferred age group
boston0550, I am writing to you based solely on MY experience. I am 35 now and enlisted at 34. I had to fight to get my Opt 40 as a 68W. I did the research, knew what I wanted and how to get it, and then just stuck to my guns. I gave a little since I knew my age was against me at the time. My recrui...

Re: Sitrep from Grim666
Thank you Ranger Jim. I am privileged to be among so many warriors throughout this part of training. It is great to learn from so many that have "been there done that" and don't need to say anything for you to know it. I will post again hopefully in about 4-5 weeks once I am ready to hit X...

Re: Sitrep from Grim666
Sorry it has been a bit since the last update. Once you reach the TPA portion (Trauma Patient Assessment) the days are long and you are expected to spend your weekends and any other of your "own" time working. This continues for about 6 weeks. I had a little hiccup the first time through. ...

Re: Sitrep from Grim666
Another update. First to anyone who wants to be a 68W read the information from Bloody Limey. All of it is spot on. I had the privilege of having him as a friend through this website since I started my journey. It was great to have someone ahead of you to pass things along. I learned a lot from him....

Place to get a M9 Aid Bag
Looking for a place to purchase a M9 aid bag preferably in black. If there are any Rangers that own a place that supplies such equipment that would be great or the next best reputable suggestion would be great.

Re: Option 40 Update as of 3 June 13
PerryB, I for one would like to thank you for the time that you take to post things here such as the updates and the time you take to help square away those here on the site. I wrote back to ConstantineCS and have PM'ed him a number of times. Trying to help him out as much as possible, so I would li...

Re: Introduction-Constantine
I would agree with PerryB. Although I was a pain in the ass and the station head of the recruiting station I was at was glad to see me leave they never turned down my request to look for the Option 40. I started with a 68W contract then had Airborne added and finally an Option 40 added. So they work...

Re: Sitrep from Grim666
Well a little sitrep. I have successfully completed the second block of instruction here at the school house at Ft Bragg for SOCM. On to the third. They seem to be moving very quickly with 7+ hours of instruction and an immeasurable amount of time spent of your own time in addition to the extra PT y...

Re: Sitrep from Grim666
OK moving on to the next step. I am officially at SOCM now. We in-process to Ft. Bragg and the schoolhouse this week. Then we officially start class next week. Graduated Pre-SOCM with A's in every class. That was a great accomplishment for me. Looking forward to continuing my education and training....
