College while in Ranger Batt.
I'm enlisting this summer when I turn 18 for a 68w40 contract. My Mom really wants me to go to college, so I'm wondering if I will be able to earn a degree or part of one while serving. If anything I can use the GI bill for when I get out, I plan on using my Medic knowledge to major in Exercise Phys...

West Point... no Rangers?
So, I was talking to my state rep about the military at his victory party after he won. He was telling me that if I wanted to apply to West Point he could make a recommendation and could get other politicians to do the same. Since I know Scott Brown I could get his recommendation, get MA's other fed...

Re: Taking plate out of arm
a plate is waiverable. as i said earlier it may require a note from a doctor stating that it's only for additional stability during the healing process. dont be in a huge rush to get it removed prior to the 6-8 month mark. the bones are still calcifying even at that point. if you can get your doc t...

Re: Taking plate out of arm
Thanks Ranger Panthersix, I'll remember that when my recruiter tries to get me to enlist without Option40. I'll just have to be persistent and hope I can get it in my contract.

Re: Taking plate out of arm
Ranger PocketKings, thank you. When you say that the recruiter is giving me the easy answer, are you saying that I can get Option40 in my contract even though I'll need a waiver? I'm also still deciding between 68w and 11b. Will either one be easier to get Option40 with? Or are they both the same?

Re: Taking plate out of arm
Thank you Rangers Zonk and Whocares! Ranger Zonk, I just needed the plate for healing my arm, the doctor said if I wanted I could have it removed after 6-8 months of having it in. It's been about 4 months, some recruiter said I can't join if I need a waiver. But I'll look for ways to get Option40, I...

Taking plate out of arm
So, I've done some research on the fourums and it seems I can't enlist with Option40 because I have a metal plate in my arm. If I have it taken out can I still enlist with Option40. I figure if I don't have anything in my arm I won't need a medical waiver for something that isn't there. Thanks a ton!

Re: Introduction- Zach
Thanks Bostonian! The second link helped me, that clears things up and I can be sure if the recruiter is fibbing if he says Option40 isn't open. The first link also helped, but I'll need to do a bit more research around here to find out if I can get Option40 with a metal plate in my arm. If anything...

Introduction- Zach
Hi, I'm Zach and I'm a 17 and a Junior in High School. I plan on enlisting with 11b or 68w with option 40. I've wanted to be a Ranger since I was about 12 and want to learn from real Rangers. I have a few questions... 1)I think my recruiter is lieing to me or not telling me the total truth, would it...

17 years old, enlisting soon
Hi everyone, I'm a total newbie here and wanted some help before I meet my recruiter, I'm a Junior in High School and I'm 17. Two nights ago I went to a college fair and met a recruiter, we were talking for a few about some of the great things about the Army. I could tell he was giving me some bull ...
