There is not a lot of parental sort of interchange here so I have continued to lurk and stay abreast with all that is Ranger.

Just chiming in because my son is one week into Mtn phase. He had time to call and update after Phase One. He said the tasks in Pre Ranger were actually tougher than the Benning Phase. Not physically as far as food and sleep but the nav, tactics, missions, etc.

Sounds like you're doing a fine job ...

My son in Mtn Phase as I write. He had a few hours off after Benning before heading to Merrill. He said the tasks in Pre-ranger were actually harder than what was in the first phase, that is tactics etc., not the food/sleep deprivation part. so it seemed like good prep.

My son is in Mountain Phase as I write. He finished the first phase, had an 8 hr pass, and shipped to Merrill the next morning. He said he could receive a care package at the end of that before moving to Florida. I'm thinking it's something like basic, you can eat anything you get while in transit.
