Update

Rangers, Finally commissioned 29Aug2009 and was branched infantry (1st choice). I have my BOLCII and IOBC dates (although I hear the BOLCII date will go away once the new fiscal year starts??) No Ranger or BAC dates yet, working that currently, but I think I will get my chance. Thanks for the wealth...

Re: Military Athlete

I have been doing these workouts for about 3 weeks now and I must say, these are tough. This guy (Rob Shaul) is really on to something. The combination of building a base of strength, explosive power and endurance are great. He has tailored his methodology for tactical movements and soldiers by inco...

Re: SF NG Question

Rangers, After much thought, I have decided to pursue the officer route and I will be leaving next week for the state accelerated OCS class. I am going for infantry as my branch of choice and thus hopefully will get my shot at Airborne and Ranger school that way. SF may be an option for me down the ...

SITREP

Rangers, I just returned from Ft. Benning and I have completed basic training. I had a great time and must say the biggest challenge by far was dealing with immature dumbasses. Lots of screwups who are probably going to get themselves or worse, someone else, killed in the future - I hope that they g...

Rangers, I am shipping in a few days and I just wanted to thank you for your advice and for all of the information provided by this site. Although I am still trying to decide on my direct course of action regarding my military career (see previous posts), I feel like I have enough information to mak...

Ranger JLTW!!!, That is some quality info. right there! I realize that opportunities are worthless if you don't capitalize. Thanks much - greatly appreciated. Ranger Bill, To clarify about my OCS status. Currently, my contract reads that I have OCS as my MOS (realizing that officers do not have MOS'...

Ranger Bill, The path you set out would be my first choice, however, the NG is the route I must take right now and that is the only thing I know for sure. I currently have an OCS commission and wonder if enlisted would give me more opportunities. I feel this would possibly be the case if I were acti...

Ranger KW Driver, Thank you for your POV. For my clarification, warrant officers are selected from NCO candidates that meet specific criteria - so does that mean that typically, WO's are not selected from standard officers within a specific branch? Also, if I wanted to be a WO in an infantry-related...

Ranger JLTW!!! - I believe that quote is from his autobiography - It doesn't take a hero: General H. Norman Schwarzkopf, the autobiography I haven't read the book, but I have seem some excerpts from it that were very good "mini-reads." I just always thought it was a fantastic quote pertain...

I guess this is still going to require some more research on my part as well as more soul searching in order to figure out exactly what I want from my military career. In the meantime I have been and will continue to focus on PT and getting prepared for step 1 - BCT. Thanks Rangers for your insight ...

Ranger Bill - thank you for your insight to your personal experience. I do think that I would prefer to be more of a BTDT/hands on type and the enlisted to possible warrant officer seems like it may be a good route. Please correct me if I am wrong, but it is my understanding that WO's are basically ...

Ranger K.Ingraham, I most definatley intend to make this a career (even in a NG status as I have a wife and two childern and a fairly successful civilian career). I am a bit older and my only regret is that I did not have the maturity and drive to do this sooner. My longterm goal is to have a reward...
