Re: ALL MEMBERS - Ranger Jim

Rest Easy Ranger Jim. At details on his service at Arlington? I would be honored to be there to bid him farewell if at all possible. RLTW!

Re: Frostbite

Ah shit, Doc, I don't know that anything was properly recorded as you describe, and I don't have copies of my medical records. I only went on sick call at RS after I was tabbed, and only because I injured my knee on the last jump (then humped the PRC-77 as FO on the last movement to contact). When w...

Re: Frostbite

Thanks Jim. I was treated at Dugway (after being Tabbed, of course) and again at the Hospital at Benning when we flew back to graduate, so those should be in my Medical file.

I know my county has a VA Rep/assistance officer, but not sure about DAV. I'll check it out.

Frostbite

Anyone ever hear of someone filing a VA disability claim for Frostbite? Don't want to be a pu$$y, but I have suffered some long-tem effects since I left the Army. Not sure that really qualifies as a disability. I was reminded of this yesterday when my fingers turned to white blocks of wood, again, a...

Re: Pentagon uproar over Panetta’s hero medals for drone ope

Holy shit. I had heard about the award, had no idea it was on the order of precedence higher than the Bronze Star. This is a feaking travesty.

Re: Maj. Dick Winters will be memorialized in Normandy

The 13-year old kid cited in the article, Jordan Brown, is the son of a family friend. He was 11 when he started selling the 'Hang Tough' wristbands at community events... he has now raised over $100K to support the memorial for Winters. The kid blows me away... the fact he sees the sacrifice of Win...

Re: Lacrosse Help?

Awesome feedback! I told him this morning on the way to school about the replies and he was psych'd! Does it matter which type of stick? Which one by position is the best to learn on? Thanks again! I have his older sister trying to find the coach's email address today in her last day of classes. I ...

Didn't get to kill nuthin!

I heard about the rabbit/chicken kill from recycles and was looking forward to it; but when survival day came around we didn't get to kill nothing. At Dugway, though, we had a 'eat what you can catch' day where we were allowed to eat (after RI approval) whatever we could trap or catch. My Ranger Bud...

Negative

Sorry, Soldiersdad; no pics (In the post-9/11 days I deliberately avoid taking pics that could be remotely misinterpreted). I did drive around the entire trace of the AF, but there was really not much to see. I did see a few Blackhawks performing flight ops but nothing tactical. Also, I never got cl...

Back in the frigid North!

Arrived back yesterday to sub-zero wind chills. Savannah was 68-70F daily. We had a great visit. Turned out we were staying at the Hyatt, right next to Kevin Barry's Irish pub on river street. Hoisted a few (too many) there to my brothers in arms, past and present. Also travelled around the old town...

Good stuff

Zonk - Thanks for the heads up... I will definitely check out the cemeteries. Different stuff like that is why I enjoy travelling.

DRM... thanks for the tips also. As far as needing more accurate directions... I downloaded some maps, and think I can find my way around a mapsheet Ok

HAAF / Ft Stewart?

Having never visited HAAF/ Ft Stewart while on AD, I find myself heading to Savannah next week. Gonna have some days free and all the nights, armed with a rental car... anything worth seeing? I guess everthing is pretty well locked down now, but just thought I'd ask (No ID card except an old pink Re...
