Re: What Makes a Good LT?
First, let me thank you all for your input and advice. I posed this question in the first place because I wanted the opinions of those I respect. I was asked to answer my own question so here it is: I'd be lying if I did not try to combine what was said throughout this thread into one answer right h...

What Makes a Good LT?
Fellow Rangers, I'm about 4 months into my new gig as a cherry LT ( I have to say I was prior enlisted and went through OCS to avoid any confusion...). I want your opinions as to what makes a lieutenant successful in the Army. I know that from my time as an enlisted soldier I wanted my LT's to not r...

Re: Rucking as a 13F
Take heed to what all of these Rangers have told you...sounds like you are already so keep it up. I trained a lot of 13F's in Regiment's RTO course which you'll attend if you pass RASP. You will most definitely ruck but you will really use your assault pack more than anything on deployments--which i...

Re: Ranger Intel Community
Ranger K.Ingraham nailed it. I worked closely with our intel guys on my last deployment. They are amazing at what they do and you bet your ass they are used. A Ranger private intel analyst can look at his commander, say, "hey sir, we need to go here and take care of (fill in the blank)"......

Re: Ranger Medic Question
I've been out of Regiment for a year but this is how it was when I was there: Once you pass RASP, you get assigned to RMED. From there you train, do various support requirements for RHQ or RSTB...during this time they send the medics to SOMC--Spec Ops Medics Course. I think that's a requirement for ...

Re: West Point Staff Publish Article on Army Officer Retention
The article made some good points. I just crossed over to the dark side in May '09 so I can relate to the retaining and ADSO discussions. One thing I would have liked to see brought up is the affect the GWOT has had on keeping good officers. Most of the quality officers we are used to seeing were br...

Re: After 100 Years, Are The Boy Scouts Still Relevant?
I'm 29 so I'm probably on the outskirts of the "Generation Me" category. I was a Tiger-Cub and a Cub-Scout when I was a kid but just as most of you posted earlier, the stuff we did was pretty lame and by the time I was going to do the Boy Scout thing I looked at my dad and asked if I could...

headed to 3rd SFG...
Rangers,
I recently graduated OCS and my first assignment before I try to get back to Regiment is 1st batt, 3rd SFG at Ft. Bragg. I'm specifically looking for their unit awards/citations. If there are any group guys or anyone in general who can square me away I'd appreciate it. Thanks.

Gundawg09 You are not going to get assigned to the 75th....this is a volunteer unit. Your best bet is to wait until you get to your new unit, get a slot for Ranger School and get your tab, and then put in your packet to come here. Depending on your rank you will either go to RIP or ROP. But, either ...
