Re: Introduction PVT Wendt
You have your reasons for taking that route. But if being a Ranger is your endstate, their are better ways to go about it...you seem to be taking a longer than necessary path. Good luck with your training.

Being so young, you have the opportunity to be extremely prepared for the challenges ahead. Set goals for yourself and take it one step at a time. This site is the best place you could have started so you're on the right track....now go do some PT.

Dude, I'm tired just reading about your story. Anyone with your perserverance will succeed regardless of branch or job. Good luck. I respect your "won't take no for an answer" mentality.

Re: Introduction-Clapper
Yep, PT, grades, eval reports...all go into the OML process. Branching occurs mid course so it's best to excel early. I graduated last May but they've instituted some changes since then with the entire BOLC program so I'm afraid I can't give you any additional imput as I could just be setting you up...

Welcome to the site, college option. Do your very best in OCS. Your branching depends on it and IN is always the hardest slot to get. Good luck.

Re: Introduction- Dorin
Welcome to the site and good luck. As far as your recruiter goes, wait it out and get what you want...you have plenty of time. Keep up the PT too. You have a ways to go. Upper body strength trainig at least twice a week and one of those needs to be weight free (ie: push ups, push ups, and more push ...

Boyd,
Any resolution on the whole 19D Ranger thing??? might want to look into that one. Or choke-slam your recruiter...either one.

I respect your dream. Welcome.
I'd rethink why you went to college though...if it's being paid for by the government, sounds to me like you're screwing someone else out of an education who really wants to be there.

Blindside, I don't know percentage wise what your chances are...it's a gamble if you go in without a contract. There are opportunities to sign up for Airborne and RASP while in OSUT but it is not a guarantee--depends a lot on slots available, time of year, etc.... The Regiment has been making a lot ...

Re: Ranger School without Option 40?
MarcoSly, Pay close attention to what these Rangers have put down. Especially...."Ranger School is a 1000m target for you and you should only be concentrating on the 25-50m targets. You have a LOT of other things you must accomplish before even thinking about being given a slot for Ranger Schoo...

Re: To our Nam Rangers....
I participated in 2 RR's in 05 and 07. Trust me when I say that for the baby Rangers, it's way more of an honor/priviledge for us to be in the same room with the vets. They made the modern day Ranger what he is today. I got to meet a lot of you and discovered that life after Regiment doesn't end aft...

Welcome to the site! Keep in mind that 11 series jobs are not the only option 40's they offer (commo, medics, FO's, etc....) The Regiment needs many types of MOS's. Good luck, and hold out for what you want...
