Re: Introduction- Ryan
Welcome to the site Ryan. I'm not sure exactly how they do this today, but my oldest son did not have an Opt 40 when he enlisted. About the time when the Basic and Infantry training were finished, they were notified that a few spots were open in RIP. My son and I discussed it and he accepted the ava...

Re: Introduction - Stephen
Stephen, My son was 'recruited' by one recruiter, but his mentorship was done almost exclusively by another recruiter in the office. A good recruiter will : - Get you your Option 40 contract, as long as you do your part and get the ASVAB score - Get you PV2 (E-2) on enlistment (Pass PT test, take o...

Re: Introduction - Thomas
I would agree with that. You would not want anything to cause a delay or denial in enlisting. You can always go to the recruiting office at any time.

Welcome to the forum Thomas. It is great you have spent time reading items here for months learning a lot about becoming a Ranger. Good luck with everything coming in your future. If you choose to proceed, getting the Opt 40 is the best bet in continuing your goal.

Re: Introduction - Stephen
Thank you Wazzle and Ranger Lunch. I live on Long Island, suburban area about an hour from NYC. Like you stated Wazzle, I've been told that it shouldn't be difficult to get a RASP slot at OSUT, but I will definitely do my best to obtain an Opt. 40. If I must wait a year, I will make the most of it ...

Welcome Templar!! Your decision to work on becoming a Ranger is very focused. Good luck on all your will go through. Just finished reading all of your posts Matthew. Very cool that you have been checking in since you were 16 years old. Good luck with everything you will be dealing with in the next weeks/months.
