Been away for a while, and was saddened to read this news. Ranger Jim was one of the first to welcome an old beancounter like me here. I will miss his spirit, his wisdom, his encouragement, and his class.
Rest In Peace, Sir.

Re: Like riding a bike...
Amazing stuff. I actually felt my brain "move" trying to imagine riding the backwards bike.
Interesting way of showing that truth is truth, and that our perceptions and biases are the x-factors.
Thanks Ranger RangerX!

If I could change the IRS hold music, it would be "The Waiting" by Tom Petty. Problem is, based on current hold time estimates, I could hear the song 15 times before I finally get a representative.

Re: Reintroduction - Bandy
Thanks for the warm welcome, Ranger rangerjd. We only had to do 3 days of basic training if we were nonprior service...mainly to teach us military customs and courtesies, teach us how to get squared away, and to start working as a team. We have nonpriors like me but also veterans who have served for...

Reintroduction - Bandy
Rangers, At the behest of Ranger Jim, I am posting a SITREP of the past few years. First, here's a link to my original Introduction thread: https://armyranger.com/bb/viewtopic.php?f=172&t=35354&p=446848#p446848 Since then, it's been as wild a ride as an accountant can have. After being in a ...

Re: Random thought of the moment.
At my office, my staff mentions some kind of a catalog called a Blue Book. I have no idea what it is. They look at me like I grew horns out of my head or something... People in your office make reference to Blue Book  ? Ummmmm, unless these are meant as amusing obscure references as a part o...

Re: Random thought of the moment.
Holy crap: I learned today that a late 20's or early 30's college grad I work with has never even heard of the book "1984". He tried to explain that the reason he probably hadn't heard of it was because 1984 was before he was in school... Yikes. And it gets worse as you get more aged. Aft...

Re: What is it like inside a U2 Spy Plane?
Me too, Ranger Lunch. Wonder how that tv presenter managed to get on the U2? TC204 - I remember watching a program on the Blackbird. The planes "weep" fuel while on the ground. The engineers couldn't figure out how to make a seal for the fuel tanks that would stand the heat generated durin...

Re: What is it like inside a U2 Spy Plane?
Thanks TC204 for posting that link. If I ever had a chance to go up in a military plane, the U-2 would be my pick (with the Blackbird a close second). Skunk Works was so far ahead of the curve on these designs.

Re: Democratic candidate misspoke on military service
Ranger Jim, Excellent article. Thank you for posting it. I can't help but wonder: In this age of instant information, when news is transmitted 24/7 via the internet, and verification is much faster and more accurate than it has ever been, why would anyone take the chance of lying about their service...
