Sailors Keep Pearl Harbor’s Legacy Alive

Navy Petty Officer 2nd Class Brandon Howey is one of 16 sailors assigned to the Arizona Detachment, a special duty assignment. They’re entrusted with ferrying over 2,000 visitors a day to and from the USS Arizona Memorial at Pearl Harbor, Hawaii.

Howey says the opportunity to educate people about how the USS Arizona is more than a sunken battleship is a great honor.

The National Park Service has managed and operated the USS Arizona Memorial since 1980. Additional information about touring the memorial is available on Recreation.gov.
