Marines assigned to the Marine Corps Mounted Color Guard grabbed their saddles, horses and ceremonial gear to journey from Marine Corps Logistics Base Barstow, Calif., to the District of Columbia and surrounding region for the first time in more than a decade.

During their trip to the East Coast, the Marines presented the colors at the Preakness Stakes, participated in the National Memorial Day Parade and visited the Marine Corps War Memorial, among other sites.
