I am a Marine Vet so I am fairly unfamiliar with how things operate in the Army, especially on the Rangers side of the house. I started talking with this guy and he was telling me, he is a 1st LT in the 75th Rangers 3rd battalion. I had no choice but to listen to what he was saying since I had no ammo to argue against him on Army procedures. He told me he spent 6 years enlisted as a combat medic and went through OCS to get his commission. The small things that bother me is he said he spent 3 years as a 2nd LT in charge of an Armor Unit... I wasn't sure if 75th Rangers had Armor. He said he was stationed in Ft. Brag I checked and it says y'all were in Ft Benning. I'm sure you guys have detachments all over but he didn't say anything about that. After his 3 years there, he was promoted to 1st LT, I thought that was a little lengthy for him to finally get a 1st LT promotion. Marine Corps you were looking at 1.5 to 2 years tops. His general demeanor shouts fake to me for someone who would have around 10 years in the military. I checked his face book he has some photos of a Wake Tech ROTC graduation and training events. He does not have one single photo that has anything to do with Rangers. I'm starting to get the impression he was actually ROTC and is attempting to pass it off as military service. Had he claimed to be a prior Marine I could hit up some buddies of mine to find out but I have no contacts on the Army side of the house. I can give you a first and last name but short of saying hey let me see your DD-214 I was hoping to get a yes or no from someone on the inside. I can't stand someone lying to me about military service, I have nothing to gain from someone helping me here, other than being completely sure before trying to expose him for who he is.
I'm not sure what information you will need so the basics are, his name is (Name deleted by Admin for now). Middle name unknown. Claims to be a 1st LT. - 75th Rangers 3rd Battalion

Re: My gut tells me poser, but I need help.
My name is David (name deleted by Admin). Married 9 years with 2 wonderful daughters. I am a 6 year Marine vet, discharged in 2010 medically as a Sergeant. I was a Combat Engineer with 2 deployments to Iraq in 2005 and 2007. During my first deployment with 8th ESB 2nd plt out of Lejuene we spent a lot of time fortifying fobs and other small outposts, as well as constructed many of the voting poll locations and hardened them with bunkers for the election in the Haditha area. Towards the end of our deployment we were geared towards mine/IED sweeping ahead of convoys. My second deployment I volunteered to go back with a smaller unit to train Iraqi Police. I was part of a 15 man team that hired and trained the local police force. We lived in an old bombed out british fort looking complex right smack dab in the middle of Ar Rutbah, Iraq. I'd be glad to answer any questions someone might have and I was a little preemptive with my question before introduction and I do apologize.

Welcome, I have nothing to add of merit other than say I was in Iraq in '05 also. FOB Striker and an AOR that extended from the Triangle (Mumudiyah, Yusafiyah, Ludafiyah) up Aeros to Uday's ranch. I was in 'Stan in '07. Thanks for your service, and guy sounds FOS.

Re: My gut tells me poser, but I need help.
I started up a conversation with him and asked what his military experience was and he went through everything he told me in the past. He stated he was enlisted for 6 years. Made E-5 at 3 years and then stayed E-5 for the following 3. He said after his 6th year he went through ROTC through the Green to Gold and got his commission where he was in a Scout Cavalry unit for 3 years until he was promoted to 1st LT and was moved to the 75th Rangers. I decided to bluff him at this point and asked him why his AKO didn't show up for a 1st LT and he started back pedaling. He first started out with I don't know whats wrong with it or why it didn't show up and I asked him to come clean. He said okay I'm not a 1st LT, I am a 2nd LT. I told him I pretty much knew that since he said it took him 3 years to get promoted to 1st LT. He said yeah its more like 6 years. I told him no, you're looking at 12 to 24 months tops and that's time in grade. I started pushing him some more about when his ROTC grad date was and he finally said he hadn't received his commission yet but he was gonna get it. I started getting pretty upset by this point and asked him why he still didn't have an AKO account. He was adamant about having an AKO but folded more and said he was a Specialist in an Army Reserve unit 1493rd Medical Detachment in Cary, NC. He still claimed to be either already accepted into ROTC waiting on a date to start or was in ROTC he began getting a very low tone in his voice and hardly understandable. On top of this I find out this mustang and Harley he was spreading pictures of were copy pasted from the manufacturer website and his fiancé he was telling everyone he was gonna marry was another copy paste job, turned out on google image search she is a professional violinist living in New York. Compulsive Liar? Mental Health issue? I don't know but did cut ties with him. I am still unsure if he is a reservist out of Cary, NC. I had a number for the unit but I cannot seem to reach anyone to confirm if he is part of this unit. He lied about a lot but he did snap off im part of the 1493rd very quickly and really who would choose the 1493rd out of all units.... I still wished to bring it to light to you Rangers and his unit if I was able to. He will end up trying to pass this over on the wrong person and get KTFO so perhaps his command could bring him back to reality.
Re: My gut tells me poser, but I need help.
I probably could have forgave/tolerated him had he manned up after I called him out initially but apparently he didn't have what it takes. It really bothered me though. I had another friend of mine that was so enamored with his tales that he actually referred to him as LT and it didn't and still doesn't sit well with me thinking back on it. I appreciate it, you get enough of us jarheads together and we can make a full brain, which 9 times out 10 takes more marines than you have on hand. hehe

Welcome Marine, and thanks for your service. My family and I appreciate what all y'all have done over there for us.
Good bust as well. Fuck that turd. His ROTC Cadre and his unit should be made aware of his lack of integrity. Not a good way to start out when you want to ultimately lead men into harms way.
Enjoy the site. Couple other Marines wandering around here on occasion as well.

Aside from the lack of paragraphs to make easy reading for retards like me, I like this guy. Thanks for bringing this up!1371USMC wrote:I still wished to bring it to light to you Rangers and his unit if I was able to. Welcome here David, my dad was a Marine engineer at Lejeune as well. He was there from 1946-1948.
I think your bullshit detector is serving you well in this case.
