In previous years I was lucky enough to be aboard several Coast guard Vessesls particpating in Fleet Week.

Welcome aboard Richard. I had occasion to work with the Coasties several times in New England, very squared away bunch - and NO, I was not being rescued! 
There's a lot of cadets, former and current and a fair number of officers with a variety of backgrounds prowling this site. Feel free to fire away but always scout the forums first.
