Signal Soldier

Post by Wilson »

Hello Rangers!

This is my first post and I wanted to start by saying I really look up to you guys and your accomplishments and service.

I am a 25B (IT Specialist), which is a commo MOS for those that don't know, in the Texas National Guard. Since before I joined I've wanted to go to schools and be a ranger and follow in the footsteps of my dad, but as a commo soldier in the national guard I knew my chances were close to none of doing any of that. However, I recently joined a new airborne national guard unit that wants to send me to airborne school and ranger school and it has changed my whole life. From the time I even thought there was a remote possibility of getting my shot at ranger school I have been busting my ass to get into ranger school shape and I'm coming along nicely. I'm so ready to earn my tab, i've got ranger in my blood!

Anyways, the reason I'm posting is because i'm concerned about my lack of combat skills that comes with a) having a combat mos, and b) being in the active army and doing actual training more than two days out of the month. I'm not as concerned with my PT or mental toughness as I am with my worries of not doing well on the patrols. Are these valid concerns? Thanks for your time
