Too Smart for Infantry?

Post by Cisco4711 »

Hello everyone, I have a question/opinion that I would like to hear from everyone on here.
I've been wanting to sign Infantry for the longest, but lately I've been thinking about 13f. My main reason for considering 13f is because they require more technical skills, yet they still do perform infantry duties (or not). I'm a very intelligent person and I mean no disrespect to any combat arms MOS, but I just don't want to sign on for Infantry thinking I was smarter than your average person and should've picked a MOS which demands more technical thinking (13f). Infantry is what I want to do, but alot of people have been saying that 13f in a Ranger battalion is alot cooler and you do more damage. I KNOW i can excel in either one that I pick, so what's eveyrones opinion?
Also, just in case Delta comes along the way my possible military career, which MOS would be better/ more useful?

p.s- I dont think any schools are closed to 11x, but are there any that are closed to 13f? Only one I can think of is Sniper school.

"My Opinion", is that you're going to get a lot of feedback.

OK young hero, because of your status I went back and read all seven of your posts here. I see that you are a 17 year old High School senior getting close to graduation. Right about now you feel like you have the world by the ass with a down hill pull. Indeed, graduating from High School is an accomplishment you should be proud of. But in the greater scheme of things it's just one more step in lifes ladder. Don't get all carried away with yourself. One of the criteria for being a Ranger (along with being crazy) is that you have to be smarter than the rest and prove it by your test scores. So the men you're addressing are all of above average intelligence and most were in the Infantry. So, in the future, please try to keep in mind what kind of men you're talking to and THINK about what you are saying before letting your fingers go walking across the keyboard.

No need to dogpile on your post and I won't. Just be aware that you have unkowingly insulted about 90% of all Rangers. Brains, guts, teamwork and a never quit attitude are required of every man in the Ranger Regiment.

It used to be that the shortest MOS school was Artillery Gun Crewman, it was like 3 weeks of bore swabbing, mind numbing, dumbass.

Thanks for the input everyone. I just wanted to be re-assured for some reason on my decisions.
Believe me, the Infantry has the highest respect of any combat arms; it seems I just a had little stupid dilemna over picking a MOS

My Point: I just want to be the best soldier I can be and wasn't sure which MOS would help me with that...but I was just re-assured. Thanks again everyone :)
