Re-introduction

Post by UneasyRider »

Good morning Rangers,

I first found this site over 4 years ago when I was enlisting in the Air Force and received some awesome mentor-ship. Never forgot that help; and have continued to search this forum for information from time to time over the years. I served 4 years in the Air Force as a Security Forces member (equivalent to an MP). I learned a lot and did a lot but, I always yearned for more. So, prior to my discharge from the Air Force I was already speaking to Army recruiters. Within two months of initial contact I went to MEPs and walked out with an 18X contract, and kept E4 to boot. I was very impressed with the Army recruiting process. My ship-date is 4 JAN 2010.

In the meantime I attend school full time as a Psychology major. Figured I could hit my benefits for a full semester prior to my leaving for the Army.

Thank you for this site,

UR

I'm not the way I am because I was a Ranger - I was a Ranger because of the way I am.

Do some research on Orienteering (Land Navigation) before hitting Ft Bragg. Multiple sources & tips on-line. Probably didn't have opportunity to get much time in the bush as USAF SF. Knowing how use a GPS won't help you through selection.

Nuthin' prepares you for humping a Ruck, like humping a ruck. Get your feet toughened up, and your body used to carrying a load. Oh yeah, and don't get hurt.

Funny you say that because most of the "operators" in the Regiment today have longer hair than most SF soldiers.

Yeah after the "relaxed" grooming standards went into place, some of those cats really took it to the limit.
