DEP intro

Post by rmiddletn »

Ship date is Dec 31st. Im finishing my junior year of college right now and super pysched to leave. MOS is 11x Option 40. I am training everyday including running, pushups, pullups, situps and eating healthy. Far as mentally is concerned, cuz I hear thats the harder part, I am studying ranks, soldier creed, Ranger Creed, and reading everything I can get my hands on.

Welcome and congratulations for enlisting to become an Army Ranger. I am not aware of what kind of shape you are in, but be careful in your PT and work up to things gradually. The last thing you need is to develop a case of shin splints or other over-use inury before you ship. And while you're reading about becoming a Ranger, be sure to read and heed the ROE PM I have sent you.

Pay attention to the PM Ranger Bill sent you.

As far as your APFT results, self-administer one today or tomorrow and have the results posted in this thread NLT than 1700 EST tomorrow.

It will give all of us an idea of where you are physically and what needs to be done to improve. If you can only do 10 Push Ups, 25 Sit Ups and run your two miles in 28 minutes that is ok. But we will work with you if you want to work with us.

Welcome to ArmyRanger.com!

Good initiative. Bad judgement.

Read the ROE (Rules of Engagement) PM sent to you by Ranger Bill.

These scores do not indicate a dedicated regimen. Didn't you say you've been training every day?

Does the "mesa" in your location mean Mesa, AZ?

First off, good on you for posting as requested.

Second, we need to get you on a dedicated plan before you ship. Whatever it is that you are doing on your own isn't doing the trick. There are a few different Ranger's here who can and will help you improve as long as you do not quit on them or worse bullshit them.
I will be retesting Wednesday the 26th.
Not unless it is scheduled with a recruiter. If it isn't then you are going to retest with the rest of the DEP's in the daily WO thread next month.

The thread is located Right Here

I will make the assumption that you have enough time in your day to dedicate 30-60 minutes at least once a day to a WO. Not going to tell you that you'll score a 300 on your next APFT (which we'll take as a team) but that you will improve considerably. Just ask some of the guys who participate.

At any rate, as far as first impressions go, I think you are eager to learn and willing to improve. If you haven't looked at our mentoring program yet, I suggest you check it out and read up on some of the threads surrounding it.
