I lost interest in the first few mins, I know how I will vote. A good debate would have been nice but I am voting against nobama

I have been watching the bailout proposals though and I don’t see where it is governments job along with my tax dollars to bailout private banks. If that’s the case I am going to spend a few mil and the government should come bail me out when I cant pay it back. McCain did talk about personal accountability and responsibility and the bank bailout plan doesn’t look like that to me.

I lost interest after the first bit also.

It did appear to me that Obama won the first round. He's a smooth talker. I wish McCain would have pointed out that Nobama's tax policies will raise EVERYONE'S taxes in addition to a loss of jobs and making consumer goods more expensive.

I was against the bailout and am still not too excited about it, but after talking to my brother-in-law who was a banking branch manager, I'm seeing it in a different light.

Unfortunately, if we don't bail these bastards out it could have far reaching consequences that could cripple our economy. I mean, do you guys realize right now that the banks aren't even loaning to each other right now???

The last debate is supposed to center around the economy so we shall see..

There were several statements made by McCain that that Obama should have nailed out of the park like they were slow and over the plate.. but he didn't. I'd call it pretty even, and that is where McCain fucked up. He should have crucified Obama for his lack of foreign policy experience but for some reason did not.

I agree with the earlier statements, though, in that I don't think these will change anyones minds and we need to get right to the dogfight...Um, I mean election.

As far as the bailout? They almost had a compromise worked out until McCain stuck his nose into it and gummed up the works.
I wish McCain would have pointed out that Nobama's tax policies will raise EVERYONE'S taxes in addition to a loss of jobs and making consumer goods more expensive.
No, Obamas plan is to raise taxes for those above the $250,000/ mark with the biggest being in capital gains. Everyone below it he wants to cut.

McCain wants to cut them across the board with the cuts getting larger the more you make.

No matter who gets in the average joe will be paying less. The question is how long can we go on as a country hemorrhaging money and not raise taxes?

Show of hands.. Who here can last very long by spending more than you are bringing in? Anyone?...

Someone had a post to a link about "Common Sense". Here's a dose of common sense for you; How long can the country go on spending 6 billion dollars per week on the GWOT without increasing revenue. Its basic economics, one-o-fucking-one..

One thing is for certain. The next President, whomever he is, is going to be handed a shit sandwich and he better be hungry. If there is hyperinflation and exorbitant interest rates, it will be from fucking things up right now with an unregulated bailout and a deficit in the trillions. That is where the loss of jobs and price increase in consumer goods will come from. As long as the foxes continued to be allowed to run the hen-house, we are all gong to be screwed like a cat being fucked with an axe handle.

Figuratively speaking, of course..

It's obvious you drink the koolaid dude.

It's impossible for Obama not to raise taxes, especially with his 800-900 BILLION in entitlement programs he has planned. Look at the federal budget and the deficit. Then tell me that Obama's tax plans would only affect the rich.

And you are seriously smoking the chronic if you don't think Obama's plan to "tax the rich" won't roll down hill and affect all of us. Businesses will only pass that cost on to all of us. That's your basic economics "one oh fucking one".

Obama's "95% of Americans will get a tax cut" is a bold face lie. Capital gains taxes will affect most americans. Even *if* we see a tax cut it will be offset by the massive increase in the cost of living caused ny the "One."

Stop listening to NPR and you wouldn't think McCain going to Washington to work on the bailout was a bad thing.

Factcheck.org has already proven McCain's attempt at pointing this out to be FALSE.

They also proved Obama's talk about the 95% of families getting a tax cut to be false as well.

McCain going to work on the bailout was not a bad thing at all. Saying let's suspend campaigning (instead of multitasking like leaders should) was a bad look for him. Palin's jackassery of an interview didn't help either.

Truth be told, McCain needed a big win last night and he didn't get it. Ultimately, unless something serious happens, last night ans the coming economic debate may just put Obama in the whitehouse.

How can increasing taxes on someone that runs a company affect the bottom line of that company? Tell me that. If a company tries to "pass it on" its because we will let them do it. Yes capital gains increase will affect most Americans, but the ones it affects the greatest are those who have large capital gains; ie-selling large amounts of real estate, stocks, big ticket items. If that is you, then I can see how you would be pissed and can understand your objections. It isn't me, however.. or anyone I know for that matter. The only time it will really affect me is if I sell a house for a profit.

McCain insisting that the bailout include less regulation, permanent tax breaks for the companies involved, and giving them some on the side? Yes, this is a bad thing. A deal was almost in place, then he put the kybosh on it for no good reason. Doesn't anyone remember the "Keating Five" scandal? The 700 billion bailout plan is gonna cost every household about 14k each. Do you feel like paying that to give these companies a freebee on passing bad loans? I sure fucking don't.

You said look at the deficit? The GWOT is predicted to cost somewhere around three trillion dollars by the time we are done. That is exactly why the next president will be forced to raise taxes. I didn't get this from NPR. This is straight from that commie socialist Alan Greenspan.

I might have smoked some cronic, but it was your stash..

Funds accrue "capital gains" that have nothing to do with YOU buying or selling; in fact, it could be related to holdovers from previous years before YOU even purchased the fund through your MF in your 401k. If that is you, then I can see how you would be pissed and can understand your objections. It's not about me; I oppose SOCIALISM and THEFT and income redistribution. It isn't me, however.. or anyone I know for that matter. The only time it will really affect me is if I sell a house for a profit.Wrong. Like I pointed out, it will affect your investments.

I didn't get this from NPR. This is straight from that commie socialist Alan Greenspan. I have no problem with the GWOT. I don't buy that this is why we have to raise taxes. I wish I could post a pie chart showing exactly what "we" spend our money on. Defense is 20% Entitlements are 44% The net interest on the debt is the fastest growing slice of the pie. McCain wants to cut spending while Obama wants to increase it.

I might have smoked some cronic, but it was your stash..
I don't trust ANY politician. But I am a die hard Conservative. Obviously you are not, hence the disagreements. I don't believe that the government is the answer to ANYTHING. I'm a big believer in controlling spending while cutting taxes. Obama and the democrats believe the answer is to increase spending and increase taxes-regardless of what they "say". Socialism, and make no mistake, that's what Nobama and the Lib's are advocating, has never worked anywhere.

There was definitely not a clear winner, but I felt McCain had an edge. In watching it last night two things were very noticeable to me. McCain seemed very laid back, calm, and even chuckling at times throughout the debate while Obama seemed to be flustered and angry the entire time. Obama did his share of stuttering and didn't look very at ease. Although, he did a very good job at keeping up with McCain, which I hadn't expected. What I thought was kind of funny, though, was that Barack tried to claim one of McCain's advisers, Henry Kissinger, said that they should meet unprecedented with the president of Iran. Though McCain said he would not say that and only would meet with secretaries, Barack insisted... I was amused this morning at the gym when I came to find that McCain was indeed right and that Barack had just pulled a false claim out of who knows where.

Another issue: Obama openly criticizes and will not let anyone forget that he disagrees with the decision to move into Iraq back when we first did. He pretty much believes that we ditched Afghanistan and left them in an unstable state. He also says we should pull out of Iraq and go back to Afghanistan... But if you think about it, isn't that the same exact thing we did by pulling out of Afghanistan and going into Iraq? He wants to do it again, but this time leave Iraq in an unstable state? This just makes absolutely no sense to me what-so-ever. It seems incredibly contradicting...

Overall, great debate, but they didn't talk to each other too much. I'm looking forward to the next one, but I hope they start some hardball. It'll be interesting to see who gets eaten alive.
