More than 1,000 soldiers from the 75th Ranger Regiment will conduct a mass tactical airborne operation at Fort Benning, Ga., beginning Aug. 6 to kick off the weeklong Ranger Rendezvous.

The Rendezvous, which brings together active-duty Rangers and veterans from the regiment and their families, is held to coincide with the regimental change of command.

Col. Richard D. Clarke, a former 1st Battalion, 75th Ranger Regiment commander, will assume command Aug. 9 from Col. Paul J. LaCamera.

The days leading up to the ceremony are filled with Ranger demonstrations and events designed to foster camaraderie within the Ranger community, according to a press release from Fort Benning.

Here is a schedule of the week’s events:

Monday, Aug. 6

• 5 p.m. Mass tactical airborne jump, Fryar Drop Zone. More than 1,000 Rangers will jump wearing full tactical gear.

Tuesday, Aug. 7

• 6 a.m. Regimental physical training. Rangers will participate in a three-mile run.

• 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Ranger stress shoot competition. The event tests Rangers on their combat skills including marksmanship and clearing obstacles.

During the same time period, the 75th Ranger Regiment will have an open house to display vehicles, equipment, personal gear and technology.

• 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Ranger sports events at various locations on post, including combatives, boxing, football, softball and tug-of-war.

Wednesday, Aug. 8

• 10:30 a.m. Ceremony at Infantry Hall. Seven distinguished and three honorary members will be inducted into the Distinguished and Honorary Members of the 75th Ranger Regiment. Distinguished members are inducted for their outstanding accomplishments while assigned to the regiment, and honorary members are inducted for their outstanding support.
