Intro A-2 1/75 99-05
Greetings,
I left the service to participate in the Green to Gold program. Yes, I am becoming an officer, but mainly for the education. I hate to break it to you young guys who joined after high school like me, but unless you have connections or plan on going to triple canopy or blackwater it might be in your best interest to STAY RANGER! HOOOAH, cause their isn't a job description with "master breacher" or or "jumpmaster" on it. However, we all have the advantage of knowing how to survive and make it happen. My main reason for leaving the enlisted ranks was simple: I got back from my 5th deployment, and we immedietly go into training on clearing bunkers and patrolling, while our brand new shoot house on Hunter sits and wastes away. Maybe I'll have a slim chance of helping the Army get current instead of being 20 years behiend the power curve all the time. Heck, when I got to 1/75 in 99 we still had vietnam era LCE's and canteen's. You go to your local paintball arena and you'll find better equipment than "Spec Ops" in the US Army, that's pathetic. Don't even get me started on boots. Heaven forbid the Army someday realizes every soldier doesn't walk the same or have the same foot shape. I probly won't be able to make a difference, but at least I'll have a slim chance. My thoughts go out to all you rangers still deploying. We are fighting a dangerous war and it's a shame we lose soldiers to these chicken shit bastard terrorits who are to affraid to fight head to head. Be safe.

Welcome. If you graduate and come back on active duty as an officer, you will have a unique perspective. Take advantage of the insights you have gained. Hell, you might even consider something like Quartermaster or Acquisition Corps to ensure that the troops get the best possible tools to do their work. Oh, by the way, several years ago the G-4 of the Army was Jimmy Ross; a rifle platoon and company commander in the 101st in Vietnam. He proudly sported his CIB.

Well I don't know if you are being serious or not about that quartermaster comment, but if you are, that route is unlikely. I dont think that branch would suite me very well. Thats also a branch that is handed out. With a 3.7 in Microbiology and an average of 360 on my PT tests I might be aiming a little higher than soft skills pouge. Thanks.
