Did I screw my chances of being a Ranger.
Alright, I signed a contract with an MOS of 91W last Tuesday. My ship date is 20060621.
I want to know is it possible to renegotiate a contract? I have decided I want to be a Ranger, but I have no opt. 40 or anything other than my BCT and AIT on my contract. Is it still possible for me to change anything? Do I have any negotiating power? If I don't how could I go about requesting to be put into Ranger School?
I searched the forums for a long time to see if anyone had been in my situation before, I found one topic but it did not adress the underlying question of, CAN I RENAGOTIATE?

Why ask us, be a man and ask the man (or woman) who got you to sign your enlistment contract without holding out for an OPT40 option in the first place.
Then come back and share what you found out, just in case somebody else does the same thing and needs "an answer"
I bet your handshake is just as weak as your signature.

It is something I decided I would like to try after I had already signed the contract, which is why I am asking if it is possible to change it. Rather than spending 8 hours at MEPS again to ask a simple question, it would be much easier to ask it here.
If at the time I signed my contract I wanted to be a Ranger I would have asked for it. Ontop of that, I want to know if I need to head back to MEPS quickly to do it or can I wait to renegotiage when I go there the day before I ship.

Do I talk to my recruiter about this? I am seeing him today, and then we can make a "date" to go back to MEPS and meet with my counciler?hit_it wrote:Yeah, you better fix this fucker quick.Thursday wrote:PM inbound EggParrot.
They may be monsters, but they're SEA monsters. What are they going to do, flop up on the deck and suffocate at us menacingly?

Oh you know, there is a motel down the block from the station, we've gone there quite a few times, and sometimes he treats me to Burger King too, he is such a gentlemen! Just don't tell his wife!RiserBurn wrote:Where else does he take you on your "dates"?Do I talk to my recruiter about this? Today I'm going to the local F.D. to make packages to send to Troops over in Iraq.
