Another DEP Introduction
Hi everyone. First off, thanks for the great site. I have used a wealth of information from this site in my decision making process. I've spent several late nights on here doing searches and reading up on info I thought I'd never know.
Anyway, I signed up Saturday as an 11x recruit with option 40 and associate options 70 and 175. I received a respectable signing bonus, and I ship in June. I am honored to have the chance and opportunity to be able to join the U.S. military, and even more honored to receive the option 40 and a shot at the most elite force in the world.
I've spent the past year at LSU since highschool on full scholarship, maintaining a 4.0. I work for one of the top three financial institutes in the nation and upon completion of college, could have moved up at a very fast pace. Well, basically if I wanted to know what the rest of life would be like, making plenty of money, I'd stick with this. F that. I was doing it for the wrong reasons and would be miserable.
My number one hobby is going to the range, so infantry recruit suits me pretty well. I usually go about once a week to shoot, so Im really excited about my new career. I am training pretty hard everyday, pleased with my progress so far. Thanks again for the great site.

Welcome and congrats on joining.
While you have decided to put education on the back burner I would encourage you to pursue your education at some time in the future. It will help with promotions and it also one of the few things in life that cannot be taken away from you.
