Don't know what the standards are today, but earning the EIB was a bear back in the day.

Good Job.

Remember, anybody can get a CIB, but you gotta earn an EIB.

Depends on the Battalion. I can say honestly that Leg graders protect the EIB with everything they got.

Agreed, Ranger Silverback. I got mine back in '88 in a mech battalion, and made sure I got it because I didn't want to go through that again.

But then, you get tasked as EIB cadre every year afterwards.

Got mine back in January. 6, including me got their EIB out of battalion so I guess it's still fairly difficult. I had dreams about the tasks during our practice days.

There was just as much stringent grading when I got mine in 2/75. Nothing was given (Except the 240B station that Ruffner275 was manning). The "Everyone In Battalion" days are pretty much gone if I am not mistaken.

Down the road they make a bigger deal about it, because even SL and PSG's don't alwayshave their musket.

In '89 at 2/75, there was one Ranger who had received Go's in each station, as of the last event (roadmarch). The kid was a stud. Unfortunately, he suffered a heat stroke halfway through the roadmarch. He continued through the march, crossed the finish line in the allotted time, and collapsed with no pulse/respirations. Medics began CPR, but to no avail. An ambulance was called. Paramedics shocked him twice with no results. On the third attempt, they brought him back. He was immediately booted from Battalion for being a pussy!!! No, the EIB Test was NOT a freebie.

When we did it last year we had about 20% failure rate. I hear an 80% pass rate is unheard of down in leg land.
