If you go back to the early days, and dig around you will find that in the history of the Army they did try the diff color beret for diff branchs
Dont know the exact time period but i had a old soldier i work with tell me about it, he said it was a sad day to see all thoses diff colors running around said it looked like a circus with guns.......
